Tyre sizes through the years

For a little project I want to start I need to know the different sizes of tyres used through the years — does anyone know of a source for this information — width and profile of both front and back tyres.

I think you're going to have to do this the old fashioned way and look things up one by one.
But then you get the honour of establishing a database!
