Villeneuve F-1 World Grand Prix - N64/PS1/DC game

I don't know if anyone remembers this game, but back in the day, it was quite the game ^-^
Now my wife bought it for our anniversary (still 3 weeks ahead, but sometimes you can't wait), and I forgot, but they took out Jacques Villeneuve, according to Wikipedia due to "licensing issues". He is a faceless 'Driver Williams'.

Does anyone actually know what these "licensing issues" are? Certainly Villeneuve didn't think him better than the rest of the F1 field?

To memory he licensed his name to a game made by a rival company which never was launched

It was because he was the only one not associated with the GPDA, which that game licensed. Therefore Jacques Villeneuve wasnt included in the license, thus wasnt allowed to be included in the game. Games like GP3 and 4 also didnt include Jacques Villeneuve, instead of him having 'John Newhouse', there were a few other titles having the same issue
