Mclaren back at the front ? Reminds me of the gap they had in Oz where there were Hamilton and Button within 1/2 tenths and the then the third away with almost half a second

The problem they have of course is... They'll qualify pole + 2nd, and then hit a wet race, and go very backwards.

The track is dirty and green. Dry pole should be 1:19.8 my guess

Wasn't Alonso's best time came from a long-ist run on prime?

The same time as last year? They're going to miss the EBD here, I think it will be a lot slower.

Edit: actually, just checked the P1 times  probably will be around there unless the track is cooler tomorrow

That's unfortunate, I predicted 1:20:800 over on zDKF1

For reference,

2011 FP1: 1:23.350
2012 FP1: 1:22.821

2011 FP2: 1:21.018 (97.2% of FP1 time)

Faster at a circuit where EBD should be of good benefit? I did not expect that. If we assume the same amount of pace increase between FP1 and FP2 this year, then 2011 FP2 should be headed by around a 1:20.504

I think the options are going to be a lot faster than the primes here. What does your data say ray?

I only keep a record of the laptimes at this point. I wait until fp2 data is in too to take a look-see

It seems as though the McLaren is sprung quite a bit softer than usual (especially for them). From some shots I've seen it looks like the front wing ground clearance increaes under acceleration.
