Well, so does Luca di, but his presence alone seems to at least double the rate Ferrari mechanics work at.Coefficient wrote:

When you are the 6th or the 7th team of the grid, with only 3 o 4 cars worse than you, you have to try new things... Lotus is fighting for the championship, it's logic that they are more conservative. But, Mercedes? They have to put all eggs in one basket. I prefer to run an unproven upgrade and to obtain a bad result than not to run the upgrade and to do the same bad result...
Interesting "perspective". Would you rather the team ran an unproven upgrade during it's one and only practice before Qualy? In so doing gleaning pretty much no information on set up for race and qualifying. Do you even know how long it takes to fit and remove the said upgrade? Lotus did exactly the same thing, too.
It's standard procedure. The lamentable side of it is that it rained on Friday with hardly any running to speak of.
So run the risk, and the odds are you lose set-up time as well as tyre information just to see if your upgrade gives you more time?Mestrades wrote:When you are the 6th or the 7th team of the grid, with only 3 o 4 cars worse than you, you have to try new things... They never had the ball in order to drop it. Have the feeling they count on some miracle and are otherwise helpless like kittens.zyphro wrote:This is what happens when you don't bring updates very often. There is no justification, this is disgraceful.
They dropped the ball a very long time ago; I'd really like to know the reason behind the lack of updates - very odd. Are the cash-strapped or what?
Yes they did - they were strong at the start of the season and very competitive in qualifying. Which has vanished ever since Monaco: coincidentally, that was the last time they introduced a major updateDragonfly wrote: They never had the ball in order to drop it.
