So now Mr.Haug speaking again....
Basically he says -we don´t know if the upgrade works and if it works we don´t know where it will lift us -AS WE DON´T KNOW HOW MUCH TIME THE OTHERS HAVE FOUND WITH THEIR UPDATES...myohmy ...what a insight..they finally found out other teams could really find performance updating their cars. One has to ask who decides what all these are allowed to tell the world instead of telling stories they should tell the truth or shutup.

Yes, but Marcush, other teams don't have as much to gain as W03 had, not nearly. Other teams simply do not have another EBD type device to bolt on to help them immensely, but rather they perhaps had a new vortex generator somewhere, or a small change to their diffuser, or a change to the diffuser separated gurney tab, a different cascade design etc. No team on the grid had as much time to make up as W03 had in their finally implementing an EBD. W03 probably gained 10-12 total points downforce whilst other teams are grasping at getting .5-1 with much smaller updates.

I agree with Foxhound and FerrariPilot.

@Marcush, it's glaringly obvious that Mercedes wants to keep their cards close to their chest, but the press asks and they have to say SOMETHING. You're reading way too much into this stuff. He's intentionally saying nothing. It's just filler. The thought that you can learn anything reliable from soundbites like that is ludicrous, and that goes for every team on the grid.

If you want news of substance then only read the press releases. Those tend to be better. That's when the team(s) actually WANTS the press to know something.

The Brit media would have you think otherwise ;).

...which is why I tend to avoid team press releases altogether. What they want me to know is rarely what I want to know.

Seriously, there are some things you just have to figure out on your own, because teams aren't in the habit of giving away even a perceived competitive advantage.

I was expecting a great improvement with the new exhaust system but I dont like what I have seen, not a great pace and Michaels face was, at leat, discouraging. :|

I still think it's too difficult to read at the moment, I'll wait for FP3 tomorrow.

I would recommend to not jump on judging the updates to W03 just yet. These were massive changes that took place on this car, floor, diffuser, exhaust, sidepods, brake ducts, front wing, rake change. Mercedes as a team have their work cut out for them and I doubt they will have this completely deduced by the morning.

Since when did Formula 1 adopt no testing and just 2friday and a saturday fp session? Come on -they had that young driver test to evaluate the parts -that´s more than you could hope for .
what does mystify me again and again is the logic behind running both cars to the same configuration more or less .I´m sure i would split the work between the two cars and have at least one of them starting with the baseline car and switch to the latest spoec only when thing are dramatically swinging in that direction....but then what do i know.

Burning the rear tyres and not having cascades at the fronts---so they have even less df at the rear ? :wtf: :wtf:

It took all the teams at least two if not 3 or 4 ,5 iterations to get it right..As the cars using it successfully all look quite different in that area I´d assume there is only a car specific optimum you need to converge towards simple copy paste is not returning the desired reward.

Very alarming to see their testdriver and engineers did not detect the rear tyre issue when testing....so they did no back to back there as well?

If this weekend turns out how it looks to be now, then bye bye Michael :( I hope he switches to Sauber to have some fun.

And this was the track that "should" have fitted the W03, if they are already burning tires, how is it going to look in Suzuka #-o

I really hope they find a magic bullet tomorrow, but thats highly unlikely

Wait until qualy to get peeved. Until then, it just not worth it. At least we can now look forward to them fighting in the development race, instead of seeing nothing done to the car race after race. It'll still be frustrating though until they're fighting consistently at the front, don't get me wrong. Let's hope for a good qualy run. Really glad to see Bob Bell there.

these articles are driving me mad - it is difficult to ignore so much speculation, but does this really appear to be speculation - do not know what to think about this carry on

and would we imagine that ross would be hoping michael would sign another 3 year contract to get him to 2015 for stability purposes?

it seems plausible surely - who cares if he is 46 - he is 43 and flying anyway

Lol, this band of folk have something in it for the veteran German; there is no reason that justifies him being 'eased out'. Rosberg is the man under pressure in the Brackley unit this season.

"Now Michael Schumacher is famously not a fan of simulators, he gets sea sick, so he can't actually do that. Lewis Hamilton is known to be brilliant on the simulator"

I've never read such tosh in my life before.

yeah the simulator bit does sound like rubbish to be honest - just want clarity and why can't ross or michael just say no or give some idea as to what is being considered - is it just about being professional, or just not caring whether people know what is going on or not? perhaps they just have no interest in what is being written as they know differently anyway?

i would just like to know what ross and michael and norbert feel about him being able to deliver up to 2015? i can't see it being a problem for schumi?

cannot wait until this saga seizes

and this magazine Bild, they seem to say an awful lot, anyone know anything about them or how worthy they are? they are german, surely they would be hoping things to be in mikes favour and not saying he is to be pushed out? that sounds like a bbc thing to do

so my point at this moment is, if bild, as a german group, are saying he is going to be pushed out by hamilton, then tehre must be some truth in this?

clearly i desperately hope not - he deserves better at least
