A little birdie dropped this in my lap a while ago. I don't know what it means yet.

I know Schumacher suffers motion sickness, however, does that give grounds for him being pushed out? Really?

Complete and utter rubbish.

The motion sickness relates to the old simulator, and iirc was one of the reasons they pushed to get a new simulator last year. That article dates from Jan 2011 which was before they got their new state of the art simulator.

That simulator story is rubbish. Mecercedes has already commissioned a spanking new simulator last year. I believe it is the same spec as the Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen simulator: http://youtu.be/-BBr_rKjlYw

From January 2011 GPupdate.net:
"Mercedes Grand Prix boss Ross Brawn has admitted it didn't help a lot that the team was unable to offer Michael Schumacher any runs in a top simulator in 2010. The team however is building a new one, although it won’t be available to use by the Mercedes Formula 1 drivers until 2012.

“It's true that it certainly didn't help Michael in 2010 that he didn't have a top simulator to use to get more virtual mileage in the car,” Brawn told Germany's Auto, Motor und Sport. “A new simulator is currently under construction although it won't be fully operational until 2012.

“Daimler is currently building the simulator. It is a very complicated project as this technology is not simply for sale somewhere.”

Interesting riddle. Perhaps if we consider Mike the protagonist, that may mean that he gives up his driving spot and becomes King of the Kings, maybe replacing Ross as Team Principal? I can't say I like it, maybe I even dislike it, it would certainly be a shame for him to leave like that now that he finally has the upper hand over Nico and if next year's car is great (yeah right...) I will be really frustrated to see Hammy get the results. X on the other hand is probably going to organize an "f1technical" party to celebrate Ross getting the boot?

Did I get it right?

I wasn't sure if you doubted his motion sickness or that he could be tossed out because of it. I only mentioned my bit to confirm the affliction, and I agree that it's a dumbass reason to lose a driver.

I think that the whole situation has more to do with Mercedes board and that team just waited to see how the situation will evolve. AMUS: Decision in Stuttgart:Mercedes remains in Formula 1

What is more important in technical terms. The F1 W03 was build with 50% model in wind tunnel as the updated 60% model wind tunnel only started to operate this month (September).

so my point at this moment is, if bild, as a german group, are saying he is going to be pushed out by hamilton, then tehre must be some truth in this?

clearly i desperately hope not - he deserves better at least
Bild is like the Sun, I wouldn't believe what they say :)

FWIW Kimi also suffers from motion sickness and does not like simulators. Has been mentioned many times in the past.

Thanks for the link. So Mercedes are toughing it out then, they must have seriously thick skins! :D I read in the article though that Costa and Willis only expect to see the real benefits of the 60% windtunnel move next year. Seems it has taken three years to turn brackley upside down, and shake all the oiks out the system perhaps?
Question is, will people credit Mercedes, Brawn or Schumacher if they start winning?
My bet is that Schumacher will still be firmly behind the wheel of a Merc in 2013, but he wants an option for 2014 too I read.
This will spoil any plans for Hamilton to Mercedes, until 2015 at least.

Interesting article, so it appears that a large part of the error of 50% wind tunnel model is in the turbulence caused by the 50%-size tyres, with the 60%-size tyres being a much better model of reality.

michaels not the only one to suffer motion sickness so does kimi...
oh wait maybe its just the ferrari simulator was crap ?

technology has moved on anyway and im sure its something that was fixed.

i remember pc games in the past that some people felt sick or had head aches from playing but it didnt stop them enjoying other games.

alot of the time its to do with how the physics are tied to the fps and the refresh rate things that are easily fixed if a development team of the software thinks its worth it.

so on what grounds would you stay with 50% models when you already know the available tyre is crap ....myoh my...
+you have a tunnel which is already suitable for 60 % size.

Why should the output of the modelshop with 50% modelsize be any bigger than a 60% modelsize? I´d be sure it would ease a lot of layup when your parts are a bit bigger ? That´s complete bs

As for the Motion sickness -everyone has it - at least those who actually drive the real cars .There is some good article in the web from David Brabham who is one of the simulator kings Alex Wurz admitted to his trouble as well .

ALL drivers involved have again and again said that simulators are of VERY limited value to them .There is simply not enough correlation POSSIBLE as the simulator cannot mimic the forces involved ..sustained high g-loads are not available and as I understand the gs are a major input to the drivers for driving at the limit

I 've read in other forums that Eddie Jordan said "Everything will be revealed on Wednesday" for the MSC/Hamilton situation. Although everything that EJ says must be taken with a pinch of salt. Maybe its the day that Merc announces they have signed the Concorde Agreement and/or announce their driver line-up? Maybe Hamilton giving a press conference announcing his decision? I must say that all things point to Nico being paired with Hamilton for 2013 and Schumacher retiring at the end of the year.
