It'd be typical if he qualifies extremely well in Suzuka.

My only lingering hope is that they manage to turn this car into a beast before the next race, and we see a Webber-esque moving up through the field to the podium. I'll give it about a 1% probability. Sigh.
Say it with me, RAIN COME PLEASE!! its our only hope. I think that with new floor the car will be faster but I dont expect such a great improvement to see both drivers on the top, 6-7 positions are still the best one that this car can achieve under normal conditions.

My point of view is that Michael is doing very well, considering all the hostilities around him. Let me point out a few things!
As far as Singapore race incident is concerned, I would like to point out that Michael was upset for some reason whole weekend.

Courtesy of remarkable words of "What happened there" and the remarkable tone in which they were uttered, I have come to the conclusion that many members of team at lower positions are not connecting well with Michael. To me it seems like there primary motive is to earn their wages. And there is this canny team-mate who hardly lets go any opportunity to belittle Michael. Majority of media is biased against him with groundless and rubbish statements. What was Ecclestone's motive for what he said in Hungary and now why he is backtracking on those comments. I have to say that even F1 management wants to get rid of him.

Its not like that I am suggesting that Michael is complaining about all these things or that it is a reason for under achieving if you want to put it that way. But these sort of things play on your nerves and sometimes can get the better of you. Michael has been sustaining this for quite a long time. Michael is fighter and competitive person who wants to let his driving do the talking but so far either things have failed or he has failed things, whichever way you want to look at it.
And last but not least is the motivation factor. From my personal experience, I understand how much important motivation is. If Michael hadn't last any in past years, he certainly has lost some over the past week or so. Mercedes team operation is clumsy and inefficient to say the least. They don't learn anything at all from previous experience. Isn't their cast star studded enough that they also want Lauda and Hamilton. If the current team is unable to deliver then what extra these two people are going to bring. Mercedes team culture is that of laid back bureaucrats and not that of a professional team.

If someone forgot:
Hamilton ,Button ,Vettel Webber in fact all the top drivers have dropped the ball recently BIGTIME-yet noone considered them outdates ,or having lack of sight ,growing old or whatever.
The guy is considering his future and it certainly has grown on him that his career has no future with Mercedes -this project is to be considered as a fail now and the team itself is prepared to hold him in parts responsible for this ?
We have to consider Brawn ,Haug + the x Technical directors within the team are looking for ways to save their necks now
as the time is quickly ticking down .
I´m complete desillusioned with everything they did and announced and I´m pretty sure schumacher does feel the same in these late days of his career being surrounded by people who simply are not as passionate and professional as he is.

@mgpw03

You blame the media, ecclestone, Mercedes, and even his engineers. You even say the team suffers from beurocracy, and a laid back nature. You do realise beurocracy and being laid back is totally at odds with one another?
Maybe Schumacher just made a genuine mistake last weekend, and the MSC hardcore are reaching ever further into the excuse box?
That for me is more plausible.

Business as usual I suspect. The same way Mercedes messed up with Schumacher and cracked on, the same way Schumacher and Mercedes will move on. This sort of thing happens all the time. It's just a shame that when it happens to the more popular drivers like MSC, some fans let rip on anything he's touched rather than him. I keep saying it, but I still see the usual blame game going on. Ecclestone? The media? Seriously? What have they got to do with Mercedes under performing and Schumacher making the odd mistake?

brawn is probably wondering if he can get rid of schumacher and save his own ass seeing as hes pretty much failed to lead the team anywhere for the last 3 seasons.

Hamilton will stay with Mclaren , he just cannot think MGP could supply the car he needs already next year.
Schumachers dreambubble has exploded this weekend methinks .I see him walk away from MGP.I fthat´s the endf of his Comeback ? I fear it is.

it wouldnt suprise me if he realised MGP will never be able to make a car that will fight for wins.

Maybe he seemed so down all weekend because he realised the upgrade package is a failure

I wouldn't like to read this very long (more than 4 page) discussion about Schumacher and his capabilities BUT!

One thing is sure: nothing ventured, nothing gained - this is true for all of Michael's career. This means sometimes he is over the limit.

Apart from that, if you can keep up with a very promising young guy who is at his peak of his performance when you are 43 but you have invaluable experience, it is very straightforward for everyone that this guy is very important for Mercedes.

I think Michael is around the same level of Rosberg this year, it is shown in qualis and in the races also.

Merc, keep him until you can give him a car that can win races more often.
Michael Schumacher: When you start out in a team, you have to get the teamwork going and then you get something back.

I agree mike made mistake and should be penalized, but the people saying Merc should dump him are going WAY OVERBOARD. When was the last time Nico looked properly quicker than Micheal?

Has anyone proffered the idea that perhaps both Mercedes drivers aren't up to it? You have one who, no matter how you slice it, is quite old for F1, and then you have another whose highest praises generally came during his rookie season and who hasn't exactly set the world on fire since then.

Is it possible the team is being let down by its drivers rather than the other way around? Just throwin' that out there.
