a very good case in point. Sor tof gets noticed due to hie grumpy yet deep-in-thought-outlook but no silver bullets in his gun either..

The best people tend to stay where they're happy. They will have lives build around their location. They will be paid handsomely to not go anywhere. They will be reward appropriately.
When you see engineers moving around a lot you have to ask Why? Doesn't he/she fit in or are they just not up to the job?

I don't think Gascoyne is that bad - but in my view he's not generally very innovative. He's the paddock's best copycat IMO

question is why he refused to sign after Monaco qualifying? at that moment car looks good (even race pace) + he get poles  i think there is something more... or Michael wanted to retire at that point or..... :wtf:

I would be very weary of promises after two and a half years of listening to hollow promised from the mouth of a friend.

I would prefer to remove myself from their company and go and enjoy myself elsewhere.

afterall, I'm here because i'm passionate about what I'm doing. Race wins would be nice but I at least want to be surrounded by trustworthy people...

While I have never worked for a friend before, I do my best to avoid working with friends. Because you can never say no - and if and when the --- hits the fan, you'll probably lose either your friend or your money.

Either way, the issue of Hamilton being signed by Mercedes is of Schumachers own doing.

Agreed, and it sucks to admit that. Although perhaps I should take part in this "evil liar Mercedes team" construct the other fans are using to absolve our hero of all blame?

At the end of the day, I'm just hoping to see the best driver in the history of F1 take one more win before the end of the season. :D The W03 is only going to get faster at this point.

Both cars faster? Given the confirmation for 2013 that Merc are keeping ROS and are releasing MSC, I'd settle for the team having the decency to at least ensure that car #7 stays reliable and is serviced properly by the pit crew for the remaining races of the season.

Yes it would be nice for Schumacher to get one last valedictory win, but I'm not sure nostalgia alone is going to make the car go faster. I think we'd look for more technical reasons than that.

If it is true that Schumacher had an option to sign for 2013 this season around the Monaco GP - I do wonder what made him think to wait. The only logical reason I can think of, is that he himself isn't particularly satisfied with his 'comeback', the progress of the car/team and perhaps the thought of how much his 'qualities' are still relevant in todays F1 with the tyres they're using. Likewise, maybe the board at Mercedes weren't so happy either - with talks and rumours about Mercedes considering leaving the sport.

If Mercedes ever did consider leaving the sport, I would say the new engine deal of 2014 and perhaps the signing of Hamilton might have sealed the deal to guarantee their stay in the sport until 2018 - and sparked a new form of motivation in form of higher budget and the believe they can effectively achieve something come 2014.

Around Monaco - I do wonder how serious Mercedes was about staying in F1 and if this may have influenced Michael to take the approach of "wait and see"... just a thought.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

I expect some improvement in the next races but not enough for a victory. We need rain and a a chaotic race to see Schumaher jumping in the podium. Corea and Brasil are the most suitable ones, but as I have said rain is basic.

I am curious to see how the car works with the nex exhaust in Suzuka, its a pity they will only check de double DDRS on Friday.

last year they were pretty slow through 130R. Perhaps the new exhaust will give them a bit extra pace through that sector.
But I can't see the Mercedes competing with McLaren and RedBull

Could you elaborate on this?

130R is flat.

Yes, but speed through 130 is traction limited by how well you exit Spoon.
