TV Audio and Video sync

Al least the last four races for me have had an audio/video delay of half a second or more. It's most notable when looking at on-board footage when the drivers change gears, and it's really quite annoying.

Is this F1-wide? Does everyone have this, or is it just me?!

The onboards in the FOM feed are never synched properly, so it's not just you. I find it really annoying , as do lots of other people on this forum!

They re-sync every lap but it inevitably will get out of sync pretty fast.
Dont think there's much to do about it technology wise.

We also see it here in South Africa. Very annoying to say the least. I did complain to our satellite TV company thinking it was their fault just to find out from them that they relay the feed as they receive it.

I simply don't believe this. It is always very consistently un-synced throughout a broadcast. And it isn't just the on-board. In Suzuka FP1 but a few hours ago, the commentators were reacting to people putting wheels on the grass and you could tell they were a second or so before the pictures.

I might try to email FOM and tell them that I'm going to download it instead of watching live because then I can re-sync the audio using VLC player. That might get their attention. Join me:

You can actually hear it when they cross the start/finish line. The sound of the car changes as if it´s a different rpm.
Seems it´s not that apparent everytime but it´s definitely there sometimes.

I have this problem watching anything through sky HD, whether it's BBC or sky, as does my brother and friend. The solution for us is to either back out of a recorded program and re enter it, or simply pause the live feed for a second or two then press the stop button to return to live viewing.

It may be a completely different issue you guys are talking about, but since no one said what TV service/Internet service they are using i can only assume you are talking about the issue i've seen.

Oh, yes, I know what you're talking about. They seem to have ironed that one out I haven't heard it for a while.

But the one I mean is different; the entire broadcast - not just the onboard - is always out by a sizeable fraction of a second. Of course this being the case means that the onboard is out also. It's just damn laziness, and unacceptable for F1!
