Hamilton seems to know that he will be not competitive next year, makes me wonder even more why he joined:
Lewis Hamilton wrote: "Zurzeit sitze ich in einem hervorragenden Auto. Ich bin mir im Klaren darüber, dass das Auto, in dem ich im nächsten Jahr sitzen werde, weit von einer solchen Performance entfernt ist"
Translated wrote:Right now I'm sitting in a very good car. I'm aware that the car I will be sitting next year in, will be far away from that performance
 Have fun Lewis...

Then Lewis is talking out of two sides of his mouth because he was directly asked in the interview room today in Suzuka if he felt he had any less chance of winning in next years Merc compaired to next years Macca, and he said emphatically, "no--I have equal chance". You can tell just looking at his dimeanor that he does not believe his own words. Then just min later he states to Perez that he knows how good next years Macca will be and you can tell he's completely serious. Then later all this talk about an uphill battle. None of it makes sense.

Something went down at Macca that no one here seems to be able to identify that drove him to Merc. What the driving force was to abandon Macca to go to Merc is some kinda mystery indeed especially when he said his core motivation was to win.

Why is Hamilton's move mysterious? If you had been at the same place since you were 13, wouldn't you feel burn out? Wouldn't you start to feel taken for granted? Wouldn't you be willing to switch to a different team to fix all those problems, even if it meant you were temporarily in a slower car?

Even better, when you do manage to fix the car, you'll be credited with doing something that Michael Schumacher could not?

It comes down to happiness, guys.

Hamilton obviously believes he'll be happier over at Mercedes than he currently is at McLaren. The slower car isn't ideal, but it is an exciting challenge.

when official DAIMLER Press releases get a mention of who has written them -XIX entertainment Simon Fuller -what do you think -who was driving the dicision towards MGP?????
Lewis is a young boy -not a man - he´s simply be pushed w´here his dfriends are directing him.I almost believe he satrts to think about the implications of this decision only now.
The people who actually found the loophole back in 2007/2008 and figured out the outwash frontwing endplates are long gone or driven away to other teams . You can feel they are desperately looking for the new unfair advantage.

I said the same some time before. They are trying to outsmart the rest and find some exploit of the rules instead of building a decent car. Three years in a row - DDRS being the last attempt (failed IMO).

I wonder who got him into that management team in the first place? What was he thinking, really? That's not the kind of management you want for an F1 driver. If it were the push of his management team not his own will to drive for Mercedes, it won't end well. It is too late to think of it now that everything is already done

Red Bull with their flexing wings? Their EBD's? The slot in the nose?
Lotus with their forward exhaust concept?
McLaren with their U pods? lower nose?

It is the teams duty to come up with ideas to give an advantage. If you dont have this creativity, you may as well just wave the white flag. This team are very much trying to at least get better.

Hearing Brawn talking about Schumacher's suspension changes in an effort to "learn as much as possible", it'd appear these guys are shifting their focus toward the development of the 2013 car.

Ah..turn back to w01 car discussions from 2010 you will find all the names in there ....It is more or less undebated fact that
Aguri suzukis SA squad remains where the guys who came up with these concepts in a time when Fry had effectively pulled the plug on SA and let them work for Hondas 2009 contender..

as for the next hot ticket -right you need those things -but fittingly Mclaren came up with :F-ducts,Coanda exhausts,RB with flexy aero .

MGP ? they inspired some people to adopt their blade type rollhoop but it was not there to survive....

EXACTLY.
My sense when I see LH interviews now its like he's just realizing what he walked away from. I do wish him well at Merc, but its gonna be a looooooooong road there.

It was a rhetorical question, but I should have made that more obvious.

No one has questioned the team's ambitions, only the part where they attempt to make it all happen, which is apparently this team's Achilles' heel. Otherwise, Mercedes is no different than any other front line team whose goal is to win.
