The issue is they can´t extend the DRS flap all the way because of the slits in the wing endplates.Huntresa wrote:Isnt that just like all other teams, they dont need to extend the wing all the way into the endplate and can use this area as they like, Red Bull or Lotus i think put a piece of metal with like 4 small winglets inside of it in this area.miguelalvesreis wrote:And, can this be a DDRS ready system?
Also it would have nothing to do with the legal DDRS they can use this year if they like cause that would be under the RW.
Esteban Gutierrez believes Sauber has made good progress with the level of downforce on its new car this year.
Gutierrez is stepping up from a test driver to race driver role this season, but drove last year's C31 during free practice in India and at the Abu Dhabi Young Driver Test. Comparing the new car with that experience, he is confident the C32 is a step forward.
"The downforce increase was very positive," he said. "It's an improvement, it's another step and it is something we all feel very happy with. We are trying to develop it even further.
"Generally the feeling is very positive. I can compare the previous car - the one I tested in Abu Dhabi - and the new car, but this is the first time I've developed a Formula One car because always when I test a Formula One car it's at the end of the season.
"It's very positive, the team is very happy with the performance, but of course the first test is about improving the reliability of the car. So far on that side it has been very good and we didn't have any main issues, which is very positive because we can have the time and the laps to experiment with the team. Also, I'm a rookie and I need to have these laps to adapt."
After 110 laps on Thursday Gutierrez said his neck was a bit stiff but that on the whole he was still feeling fresh.
"Thankfully I feel very comfortable," he said. "I did quite a lot of laps and of course the neck is a bit stiff. This is something that I have to keep working on, it's not a big issue but it's a normal, natural step. On the other things I feel very comfortable."
Hmm, is that unpainted carbon right under the cockpit full of small holes or is it just my eyes deceiving me? Could be for increased cooling..
It's just a different weave of carbon.imightbewrong wrote:Hmm, is that unpainted carbon right under the cockpit full of small holes or is it just my eyes deceiving me? Could be for increased cooling..
Looks like tyre rubber to me. Or do you mean the keel area? If so, like said above, its carbon fiber material.imightbewrong wrote:Hmm, is that unpainted carbon right under the cockpit full of small holes or is it just my eyes deceiving me? Could be for increased cooling..
Yeah, I meant the keel area. And its probably just a different carbon weave, the black areas just looked so jagged, almost hand cut, that's why I reacted to it. This picture makes it evident that it is just a different weave:Rikhart wrote:Looks like tyre rubber to me. Or do you mean the keel area? Good to hear we will see new FWs in Barcastefan_ wrote:
Interesting to hear the fact that they have a new brake system and that they are developing their own DRD system that will be tested in Barcelona (and probably raced in Melbourne).
I am starting to really like the C32, it seems to be a well thought and well packaged car, with concepts that proved to be good in the C31 carried over and new concepts and innovations introduced in the new car to complete this package. The reliability of the car is already proved by the test in Jerez, and I hope the performance and developing of the car will be at the same level.
