Live racing centre

Post

It all started with a simple chatbox on IRC, but we've progressed to make it accessible from the web.
As of this weekend, the chat has been integrated in the "live racing centre", a place where you can follow the sessions as they happen and participate in the usual chat.

Check it out at http://www.f1technical.net/live/

I'd welcome any comments on how we can improve this further. ALL suggestions are welcome!

I'd start by changing the name, as Autosport have also launched an almost identical brand name this week.

Won't you take me to... TombaTooowwnnn.

Its not a bad setup for me since I don't have twitter, so was good to see a lot of interesting information coming through. Though I didn't use the chat since I imagine its just a live version of the fanboy yingyang in the race threads but with more stuff.

I'm sticking with TombaTown. At least use it as a placeholder.

You don't need to have a twitter account to read twitter, I can assure you that.

And as for a name, something with the forum name in it would be best, no? "F1T Racing Worldwide".

Thought about the Racing Line but there is a forum with that name but how about F1techlive?

F1technical LIVE is probably going to be the best option I think...

Anyway, suggestions on things to add on this page are very welcome.
Perhaps we need a circuit map there, or a link to the preview, something like that.

What could also help if there is someone willing to tweet a bit about what happens during the sessions (although we would only need the essence or what is technically relevant). It is just a matter to adding them/you to the list to show the tweets in the stream. It's nearly impossible for me to do more than 10 tweets per race, as I'm also writing the race report at the same time.

Another suggestion: Put it somewhere on the home page!

I had to search for this thread to use it.

Its a decent thing, I think it deserves a big button on the home page.

I know Tim, it's only time that has prevented me from doing that. It's coming!

Another suggestion, remove the chat.

I tried again to use it but there are more dickheads in there than in the race threads. I cound't bear it, so I switched it off and just followed the twitter feeds.

/The irony/
I was about to check this feature but it doesn't sound like a pleasant place.

Be careful with that language, you're beginning to sound like patronizing dickhead yourself.

Go in there for the next race and see for yourself.

Its 10 times worse than the race threads in terms of fanboy_BS:technical_content, plus its coming at you 10 times as fast...

I also suggest you either get to know me better, or at least learn the definition of the word irony before you throw it at me...
