New twitter bbcode [tweet]

Post

A new bbcode is now available that allows you to properly embed messages from twitter in the forum.

Example:

Code: Select all

[tweet]https://twitter.com/f1technical/status/376403899436900352[/tweet]
Result: https://twitter.com/f1technical/status/ ... 9436900352 Enjoy!

Great add, Tomba, this code is going to be very useful.

It's a very neat feature. However what I noticed was that this topic took much longer to load(twice as long) than any other pages. It still loads very quickly though, but i thought it was something to point out.

Yes I experience the same effect. It's the time it takes for the twitter script to load. Will see if it can be improved somehow.

Please can it have the function that avoids repeating in quotes, perhaps replace with the plain text of the tweet?

I'm not sure I could cope with seeing Mike Tyson too often on one page!

I had a problem with my Wolfram Alpha Widgets. At first I tried Asynchronous Scripts, eventually I had to link outside to the Widgets.

I don't know how you could link externally in this case. The user would basically have to do a Print Screen, and they would have to travel to the tweet itself.

Right on the money!

Update: I don't see slow page loading times when embedding tweets. At least not now.
When you embed conversation the final two tweets will appear - have that in mind - it's the way feature is provided by Twitter, so don't worry if not all of the tweets show up.

Strangely I didn't notice much (if any) difference in the speed this thread loads?

Indeed, I'll fix that

Looks OK now for me as well. Twitter servers may have been a bit busy yesterday
