Now I'm relaxed... I though seamless gearbox is something that might be Ferrari's advantage but seeing the aero of both cars it looks to me that they don't have any advantage apart from tyre-suspension experience. The R27 will feature an instantaneous gearchange (IGC) gearbox for the first time. This technology has already been run by other teams, but will make its track debut in Melbourne. The unit has already completed thousands of kilometres of reliability running in a hybrid car, with promising results.
It would be great if we knew are there any similarities/differences in these systems at Honda, Williams, Ferrari, Renault (perhaps someone else will have it).
Another thing... what kind of gearboxes will use customer teams? Isn't few months after engine deal to little time to design and develop gearbox to fit new engine and tune it up with ECU? Will they get gearboxes too? How is that usually done?
