Matra was developing a V6 turbo in the early 80s, which team was supposed to be the customer?

Initially yes, but then came a world champion team and inked the deal.

And we have a winner, the deal fell through when Peugeot refused to pay all of the bill and Matra went to Renault, oh irony!

The most beautiful of all the 80s turboera engines if you ask me.

Your go sombrero.

Matra V6 Turbo Type MS 82 for the Williams Team...
I know this is trivial but I always need to do a double take when I see a V6 from that angle, as if someone’s done a crude photoshop to join two engines together from a Smart car.

They look so half-baked with 3 plugs, and the proportions seem ungainly. I expect it to fall over.

...

End of random thought, back to the quiz ....

I find this story and those images, even if I initiated it myself, so intriguing that I humbly urge our good moderator to remove them from the quiz-thread into a new Matra-thread where we can discuss it?

Seconded.

Right,complying with the posters' wishes is apparently not in a moderator's job-description.

More engine-porn;

During the 80s turbo-era, there were four different four-cylinder engines, but one never raced, which one?
