Especially at the begingins of the motosport almost all cars like AutoUnion, Lotus using so known de Dion "deat axle" suspensions at rear axle. I want to know exact model in witch was tested that possibility and never race? Hint: That model had tyre warming issues and Its predecessor tallies 10 poles and due bad reliability manage just 3 wins. For golden star write both models and ad nice story (whatever you want) :D

Sorry, but iirc Auto Union never raced in F1 (1950 onwards), no?
Are you asking in which F1 car a de Dion axle was tested but not raced?
No smartphone was involved in creating this message.

Its true. Officially no AutoUnion never race it, but dominate motorsport before. I have to corrected my self. Sorr my for inattention.

Anyway yes and had Goodyears tires HUGE warming problem, due inferior or unsuited design for that time (clue; look my avatar witch it also hide the path to the right answer). Before the season that car was changed due quite big rule changes. That car races 2 seasons, like it was common that time. Tallies 1 constructor and driver championships.

Jup! That car was right in that "family". I actually have in mind 312T2, but as i see many of users don't understand my broken English so that will be enough ... Comment on the answer;

That car had side engine scoops. Rules before season 76 (famous year Lauda vs. Hunt) changes and the tall air boxes were forbidden. Rules Ferrari allowed to race 76 season with 312T for first 3 races. That was also the time when Ferrari could made extensive testing on the new 312T2 and also on new de Dion arrangement. Although this was abandoned in favour of a more conventional suspension set up.

So excuse me i go on (could also down-vote my stupid question)... Next...

That's the man!

Goldstar for the designation of car and info on the rather innovative front suspension Southgate designed on that one?

I know it is the Osella FA1E, but I don't know much about the suspension. Can anybody fill me in on that?

Maybe is new upright. New conventional double upper front wishbone like nowadays?

This is on older model tube Osella FA1C + Alfa rear?

Later on your (@xpensive) picture is definitely FA1E.
That model had Alfa natural aspired VERY unreliable engine. With just 3 finishes in season that car worst of all times in history of motor sports.

Now i m confused one on AUTOSPORT forum sad that they mix new&old chasiss and make i hybrid (like in upper picture)? I know that Osella had no funds for development FA1E ao they were usis FA1D tubing. But for C tubing i had no idea if they try to use older "groud effect era" front suspentions...
