I myself have been confused, but i now see why i read it incorrectly.

What the rule also does is limit the length of the nose. The nose tip can be no further than 800mm from front wheel center line.

part b is referring to the centroid.

I believe not, the current display is practically a part of the SECU. Besides, all the driver needs to know is when to shift, what gear he's in, whether he's up or down on his previous lap (in qualifying), and how much KERS he has left. All of that can be done on the current display. Everything else is pure fluff. The driver doesn't need to know things like oil pressure, turbo boost pressure, speed, etc.

Can any one tell me what that bulbous detail is called on the front of the boat? or perhaps explain its function?

A bulbous bow is a protruding bulb at the bow (or front) of a ship just below the waterline. The bulb modifies the way the water flows around the hull, reducing drag and thus increasing speed, range, fuel efficiency, and stability. Large ships with bulbous bows generally have a twelve to fifteen percent better fuel efficiency than similar vessels without them.[1] A bulbous bow also increases the buoyancy of the forward part and hence reduces the pitching of the ship to a small degree.

In a conventionally shaped bow, a bow wave forms immediately before the bow. When a bulb is placed below the water ahead of this wave, water is forced to flow up over the bulb. If the trough formed by water flowing off the bulb coincides with the bow wave, the two partially cancel out and reduce the vessel's wake. While inducing another wave stream saps energy from the ship, canceling out the second wave stream at the bow changes the pressure distribution along the hull, thereby reducing wave resistance. The effect that pressure distribution has on a surface is known as the form effect.

Yeah, I first typed something about tuning the frenquency of waves etc, but then changed my mind because I wasn't 100% sure. :mrgreen:

Does the rule say how wide the pylons should be ?
If not they can put a small slit in the single pylon and claim it as two pieces

Yes, article 3.7.2 in the regulations. Must be no greater than 25mm wide and maximum area of 5000mm^2 in total.

Makes no sense, i guess you have the wrong article
