It's of course Alain Prost testing a Ligier, sometime during his 1992 absence from F1 I believe.

Reason was probably to get a taste of the Renault V10 in comparison with the Ferrari "truck-engine", as he called it.

Why the helmet I'm not so sure, probably sponsorship or contractual issues with Marlboro/Ferrari or even Camel?

xpensive, I'll give it to you, but here's the full story as I know it. After being sacked from Ferrari at the end of 1991, Prost didn't intend on taking a sabbatical year and Renault were dead set on getting him in one of their cars. Since Williams already had Mansell and Patrese locked down, off to Ligier he went. He ran his first test wearing Erik Comas' helmet to avoid media scrutiny. There was a later test where he wore his own helmet (see picture below). Prost didn't see enough potential in the car and eventually decided to sit out for 1992, and that was when Renault began putting all the pieces in place to get him in a Williams the next year.

Thanx, this one should take you while...but probably not;

What was really so sensational, which set new standards in a way, with the 1996 Yamaha-Judd V10?

Was it the size/weight of it? I remember reading somewhere that Judd were the first to use a 4.5" diametre clutch. They also screwed the cylinder liners into the head casting for the OX11A, which allowed them to make the head bolt fasteners smaller and made for a very compact head/block assembly. The whole engine weighed in at just less than 100kg.

Took you a good 15 minutes, eh?

The OX11A set new standards to the size and weight of an F1 engine, made the other manufacturers go the same route.

Beautiful, wasn't she?

Unfortunately, Yamaha-Judd never reaped any benefits from it, but I'm sure Toyota learned a thing or two.

Your go!

In the 1974 Race of Champioship at Brands Hatch, Jacky Ickx did something spectacular, what did he do xactly, besides winning?

Maybe spetacular overtaking move? Taking Niki Lauda round the outside at Paddock Hill.

Let see: Ferrari is F1 and F1 is Ferrari. So they often use that in their advantage and lobied at lot throw F1 history. So tell me when they achieved ban of special noncommercial material for very special and important application in the engine? For golden star name me part, year, name of exotic material and also engine manufacturer.

Was it the beryllium pistons in McLaren's Mercedes FO110H engine? They were banned in the end of 1999, effective for the 2000 season. Peugeot also used beryllium pistons in their engines.

I thought it was a year later, when Merc suddenly developed reliability problems.

Boy, you guys are fast, I took a smoke and there you are, but the way I understood, beryllium was not only used for the pistons?

I'm actually on a plane right now, as soon as the inflight wifi was enabled I jumped on here and it just happened to be right after he posted the question!
And yeah, beryllium was also used in the cylinder liners, but as I understand the main advantage was that it enabled the engines to run at the same high revs as the others, but with a longer stroke, which resulted in more power.
