Ross Brawn officially announces his retirement from Formula 1:

Now the talk of him going to Mclaren can end and he can enjoy a well earned retirement after many years in the sport working for several teams that include the likes of: Jaguar, Benetton, Ferrari, BRAWN GP and Mercedes AMG F1.

A softly spoken gentleman who will be missed by many people around the world.

A Grand finish for Ross Brawn, all the best in your future!
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

I am beginning to wonder whether Lotus will be ready in time for Oz.
Just wondering, are anybody clear over exactly why Eric Boullier left Lotus???

Nothing new here, he is retiring, or so he says, for a year of gardening, I mean fishing leave

Same old story. Retirement means never coming back to work and he implicitly says that after the year he will see what life brings - I'm betting it is a contract at Macca, or indeed control of Ferrari (I can see Domenicali leaving if this year is unsuccessful).

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he already had a gentlemans agreement to enter into a contract with Macca when he has had his years sabbatical. You think Ron Dennis meets up to discuss golf handicaps, I doubt it.

Ferrari of Macca, wait and see

I don't think we can know one way or the other. The McLaren job does seem as though it was created especially for him, though.

And too, this is Brawn, and he can say most anything with a straight face. After all, this is the man who used to have to ask the press pool to stop laughing at the things he was asking them to believe.

It is not thought that Dennis himself wishes to return to ‘day to day’ running of the team, and therefore the rumours are strong that Ross Brawn, late of Mercedes, will be brought in at some stage. God knows I’ve been wrong before, and maybe it will come to be, but knowing both men I confess that such a thing would surprise me, for Ross is a man who likes to be firmly in charge, and it’s a right he has indisputably earned. There again, down the road, after a few months of fishing, and with Honda coming to McLaren in 2015, you never know…

I suppose anything could happen, but the combination of Ron Dennis and Ross Brawn does not strike me as a likely one, nor as a particularly successful one. Too many cooks and all...

And with Eric Boullier's appointment, I am not quite sure where Brawn would fit in.
