Toto spoke about it and Martin Brundle also highlighted. I am wondering what sort of settings is on this car, that they are not using as of now, which Lewis used. I believe it is not something illegal, may be something in the bag that Mercs' are not using.

Anyone has any info on this?
Apparently Nico used a setting he wasn't supposed to use in Bahrain so Lewis did the same in Catalunya, might give an extra bit of power at the expense of reliability but IDK.
Haven't heard about what Nico did in Bahrain, do you have a source?

Hamilton revealed after the Monaco GP that Rosberg had used a similar aggressive engine setting in his bid to snatch victory in Bahrain earlier this year.
It's probably using the energy recovery systems to full power, which could perhaps lead to failures. Remember that Mercedes uses the link between mgu-h and mgu-k to full potentional. It's much more efficient then storing it on the ES since both the mgu-k and mgu-h are AC, but could perhaps overwork the mgu-k if used for too long.

But it's strange that what happened in Spain was told from someone of the Mercedes team, and now Hamilton said that Rosberg did something in Bahrain. Im going to wait that someone from the team confirms what Rosberg did in Bahrain before believe it. Thanks for the article.

Lewis said that Nico did it in Bahrain when he was asked the question about him using it in Spain in the Monaco post race conference. Nico was sat right next to him and didn't deny it implying that Nico did indeed use whatever engine setting they were on about.

Lewis was right to him and didn't say nothing when Nico was asked about this.

From the transcript of the post race interview:
Q: (Christian Hoenicke - Der Tagesspiegel) Nico, do you think it was fair what Lewis said about you not being hungry as him because you were growing with boats and jets and all that stuff?

NR: I didn't hear Lewis say that and so I'm not going to comment because it's easy for you to just invent something and so I'm not going to comment on that, and even if something like that was written - which I don't know because I don't read the media - then still, between what Lewis says and what's written, so much can turn around so it's better I don't say anything and I know that Lewis wouldn't say something like that, especially not to the press, maybe to me if he feels like it but not to the press.

So by your logic Hamilton didn't said nothing about the hungry. In the podium if you are asked something directly, another pilot can't respond.

I have to say, I like Rosberg's response. Very smart approach.

Are you being serious? Lewis wasn't present in that press conference, and yes Lewis did make a reference to 'hunger', but that's a different matter. Nico was right next to lewis and heard lewis' response and didn't deny that he used a different setting in Bahrain as lewis suggested. Yes it's not clear as to what settings each driver used, but i'm just saying that nico didn't deny anything...

To be fair, Rosberg is so much smarter in handling the mental pressure/media pressure than Hamilton. I've never seen the guy crack since he's in F1.

I'm not choosing sides, nor am I criticising Hamilton, but Rosberg is playing the game perfectly. If Hamilton keeps raginglike in Monaco, the media will eat him up.

All very interesting stuff. You should all read the post race press conference as typed out on the following link. Lewis is asked to expand on the 'hungrier' comments and there's all sorts of other questions too.

it's confirmed, Nico used an engine mapping he wasn't supposed to first.

However, Wolff revealed that the tension dates back to the epic battle between the two in Bahrain where Rosberg was using engine modes that Hamilton was not and then Hamilton did the same when the pair were racing in Spain in two weeks ago. Wolff played down the significance of the two incidents, but said it had added to the tension in Monaco and would not be allowed in the future.

Have to agree that Rosberg handles it all much better. Lewis doesn't seem to be able to come up with the 'correct' answer, such as "I haven't seen the incident myself, but I'm sure Nico won't have caused a yellow flag on purpose", instead he says "I'm saying nothing", or words to that effect, effectively implying that he thinks Nico did do it on purpose. I would've hoped that he would've learnt to come up with the 'correct' answer by now, especially after his time with Jenson. Still, it does make it all the more interesting to watch.

Thought this was interesting, from May 19th (before Monaco):
If there is a heated situation on a race weekend, I am trying to imagine what Ross would have done.
"If needed, I give him a call, but I can well see us missing Ross's calmness and experience in the heat of races, or in the heat of the championship.
"Ross has a considerable part in the success of this year. It's a big shame he's not here," said Wolff.
"I'm speaking with Ross regularly, and we are trying to get him to one of the next races to have a look at the team.
Maybe I will get my wish to see Ross on the podium, at Silverstone perhaps?

what you've got to remember is everyone is different in how they control there emotions, we know lewis wears his heart on his sleeve.

But at that point I didn't think Lewis was doing to badly press wise. He said it was ironic, which it was, but apart from that he always said he isn't saying anything (press conference and media pen) so I don't see how that wasn't the correct answer.

I kind of felt the senna comment was the start of the downhill part, because if anything happens it will be brought up.

The comparing merc vs macca wasn't smart in the press but he has a point. It should just be discussed behind closed doors. At the end of the day, if Merc really want to allow them to race then they need to include strategy into that and with one guy for both drivers it contradicts that. I don't think Lewis' plan would of worked, but he has a point that in such a track and because of there set-up it was going to be near impossible for him to get past

you also have to think from mercs point of view it wouldn't be a bad move. Whilst they liked the publicity of Bahrain, they won't like the publicity of a Turkey 2010 and this would help relieve that.

I think that was a poke at Wolff honestly.

I think all hell will break lose if Lewis suffer another dnf due to mechanical issues.
