As a lifelong Mercedes afficionado/nut, this day has been coming since the "concept by Mercedes" days with Sauber. But as some of us Merc fans celebrate, spare a thought for 2 men who will get little or no credit for this success.

Norby Haug, who was there from the beginning. And Ross Brawn, who was there from the beginning of this teams inception.

Hats off from my side here .I had severe doubts Daimler would have the stamina to keep the bucks flowing long enough to make this happen.

but this is not the team Ross sold to Daimler during 2009 -it´s not even what he promised to sell to them.Lean and mean y´know -Efficiency ,making more from less and what have you .

In reality this is another cost no object exercise ....as we all know money alone does not buy you titles ,so we have to acknowledge they did a proper job here .... no other factory team did achieve this ,discounting Ferrari which is in my view
a different case here.

I feel for Norby Haug here who ,in my view made it all possible .He lost most of his reputation in fullfilling his lifelong ambition to see the Silverarrows clinching the ultimate title and sadly nobody seems to care or recognise that it was his vision and motivation paved the ground for all this.

Unfortunatelly to sell a dream to a Big company is nothing you can sort out in a few weeks and on the other hand Brawn and Fry were too much into not investing anything of their own moneys in 2009 to bridge the gap ...And so not only Haug but all us fans were robbed off a serious Championship campaign for Mr.Schumacher .I will not forget this .

I don´t know what Brawn and Fry were thinking ..but looking at Ross faces at times it is prety clear he was at first hoping Schumacher could drive that W01 to places it did not deserve (how romantic..) or it was a real sarcastic move to lure him
into this ...sure all involved in 2009 knew what had to happen in 2010 ..no wonder Button called it a day asap.


but for now let them celebrate a domminant championship campaign .I´m looking forward to the outcome of the drivers title fight .

To be honest, when Rosberg had to pit for new tyres, my first thought was "there goes Rosberg's chance on the title". I thought he wouldn't even finish in the top ten. He put in an amazing effort of damage control.

I just hope, really really hope that neither of them gets hit by technical issues for the rest of the season. This needs to go down to the wire.

Tbh, when I saw Rosberg overtake Hamilton on the start. I knew he would bottle it.

Rosberg pitting early had little to no impact upon his race as there was no tyre degradation, he basically just got a 20 lap undercut. Once everybody else pitted it worked itself back out. All he had to do was match the lap times of bottas while he was waiting for bottas to pit.

Anyway Mercedes have been dominant this year, considering they have sacrificed the last 2/3 years for this car I hope their form continues next year!

Tbh, when I saw Rosberg overtake Hamilton on the start. I knew he would bottle it.

As with Spa (if one is being charitable), I think he was in too much of a rush, instead of biding his time, he went for it, and in the moment, made another mistake.

The guy is quick, no question, he can win races, and could still win the title, but he hasn't beaten Lewis in a race without problems since Monaco, and hasn't managed to beat him on track once Lewis has got in front. Perhaps that is weighing on his mind and encouraging him to make these somewhat rash moves / mistakes that we have seen in Spa, Monza and today?


Still, great to see them rap up the first of the two titles! A great comeback drive from Rosberg after his mistake and another solid Lewis drive.

I do get annoyed by all the silver arrows nostalgia, the first championship for a lifetime etc.

Then Rosberg, Hamilton & Wolff all said credit has to go to the team in Brackley (WCC 09, 71, also WDC 09, 69, 71, 73) and they also praised the team at Brixworth (WCC, 14, 09, 98 and WDC 09, 08, 99, 98)

Brackley being chassis/aero and Brixworth engines, all under the same banner...why shouldn't it be mooted as the first "silverarrow" championship?

They have new engines, and pretty much a new team of personnel at brackley since 2012.
This side of spending billions to supplant the team to Stuttgart what else could they do?

Unless something strange happens in USA/BZL/ABD I can't see anyone not driving the WO5 win any of the remaining races. The record of 16 race wins is theirs to lose. Arguably, they should have already have had this record wrapped up if they didn't lose Canada, Hungary and Belgium the way they did.

I can´t wait to see how the W06 will turn out.. in theory it´s should have more power, lower fuel consumption, more downforce, less drag then the W05.
Which is utterly insane.

To be honest, I'd expect it may have more drag, but a better L/D ratio.
