As for Rosberg's sake I hope the race is dry. Hamilton will smash the field if it rains. However, in dry conditions, Lewis has never been particularly impressive around this circuit, so Nico might have the edge.
Smashing the field in wet? Uh... I remember this.

In an ordinary Ferrari F310, he was 4 seconds faster than the fastest car of the season, Williams FW18.

There´s only one true rainmaster, even shumi-boy would have to salute.

There isn't "one true" rainmaster. A strong case can be made for either Ayrton or Michael.

On the current field, Alonso is always consistently strong in the wet. He's been on average 1.243 seconds faster than Kimi in the wet qualifying sessions this season.

1.689 seconds between the two in Australia, 1.043 seconds in Malaysia, 1.243 seconds in China, and 0.996 seconds in Belgium.

We know that Raikkonen is no slough, so that does say quite something about Alonso, who can consistently put such enormous margins between himself and Kimi in those conditions.

God knows what he could have done in Japan if not for the electronical problem. Probably would've beat the Bulls to the podium.

Alonso used an old one last week, so surely must be considering a penalty
Full list of who's on what is here http://www.gptoday.com/full_story/view/ ... _elements/ although it's not really that helpful in tracking who might need what. Generally I think all the Merc engine cars are safe - Toro both have relatively new parts, RB should be safe so it's the Ferarri engines which are on their last legs - I think except for GUT they've all been on 5 ICE since pre-Singapore. I think ALO implied had had old mileage on engines to use and some old slow engines and some old fast engines. His plan seemed to be to use the old slow engines in US and Brazil, and the old fast engine in Abu Dhabi. Although if the old slow engine gives up the ghost in practice then I can see him putting in a new engine and taking a penalty in Brazil rather than risk Abu Dhabi. Not sure exactly what is the case with Raikonnen, but he must be in a similar position IMO...

yep, he will

might turn out to be less than that though, as he is the first to be shifted back. With Perez +7 its likely to be only a +6 for Kvyat already.

It appears that we would mostly have a clear race as per current weather prediction with 40% chance of rain on Sunday. A clear week after this weekend. Qualifying on Saturday, has a prediction as 100% chance of rain. Let's see by tomorrow, how much it changes.

Ted Kravitz has announced live during FP1 that Marussia F1 has ceased trading and all staff will be made redundant.

A real shame. :(
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

What a shame, I was expecting a wet race, but who know a little bit of rain in some moments of the race could give us more chaos than a full wet race :D

Alonso putting the fire off his car with an extinguisher. Fitting...

I think Hamilton has some "time in his pocket" after watching FP2 ;) BUT, I reckon it won't matter if it's a wet weekend.

Perhaps Hamilton has a far more wet weather setup compared to Rosberg.

Bruno commented that it wont make sense running a wet setup at such an early stage.

Even if it's not a full wet set up, he is running more down-force I think. Nothing between him and Nico in sector 1, Lewis a tenth faster in sector 2, nico a tenth faster in sector 3.
