Ferrari SF15-T Pre-Launch Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It does not seem to 2012 or 2013, the shape of the air is more 'square and also the air intake is different.

Maybe new cockpit 2015 ?
A better view:

Anyway new cockpit, logical choice to move the air intake higher cause Vettel is taller than Fernando

Lotus said switch to merc gives them 85 bhp and 18kg less. Looks like everyone is just covering their asses, blaming each other. Truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
Where did you find that information?

Is it me or the mysterious GUT intercooler seems to be taller? it seems it has 5 horizontal lines while the 2014 one has 4
Maybe the shape is different too. The 2014 one is rhomboid-shaped while the GUT one looks more rectangular

Maybe Ferrari used two different intercoolers in 2014, a rhomboid one and a more rectangular one...

Rect:

Or is it just the different view angle...
I dont know...

Assuming RedBull got the 'best' Renault engine, and Mercedes AMG has the 'best' Merc engine, and Ferrari has the 'best' Ferrari engine, and the rest are handed 'more or less' b-spec versions;

i'm wondering though; knowing Lotus was very late with testing, and also had huge problems with the disaster that was the Renault V6T launch engine; could they've 'downgraded' their engine in order to keep it from overheating and breaking down? at the cost of power?

I'm still having a hard time of a 85 power defecit, just as i have a hard time about 75 power defecit; the 40 hp difference between the best Renault engine and the best Mercedes engine sounds more plausible.

However, assuming there indeed is a 'substancial' difference between 'works' engine and 'client' engines, then that power figure indeed may be bigger when you'd compare for example the AMG Merc works engine to the Lotus Renault client engine - which, in turn, might even have been downgraded to deal with the reliability issues.

just a though excersize here.

This is a bit OT but let's sum up:
-Taffin in a very measured manner and with some arguments says 40ps is more plausible.
-Scarbs says 50ps approximatively
-Horner and Markko who have been often caught red-handed exagerating things about the engine in the past, often gave different numbers, from 80 to 60hp...
-85hp might be the difference between the 2015 Merc and the 2014 Renault. why not? and in which conditions do we got that difference?

IMO you're the only person who sees ''empty promises and an'' ''uber performing'' engine in Renault's communication... I read French and German (maybe better than english) and I never saw such BS in their interviews. I often see the contrary :o
