Length of main straights in F1

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Length of main straights in F1

Post

Does anyone have info on the length of the main straights on the regular F1 tracks? Most of the sites I've looked at so far give total track length and top speed at the end of the home straight but not the length.

The front straight at Indianapolis is 5/8 of a mile, maybe a bit less for F1. I would say that the length from Turn 12 around to Turn 1 is 1-1.1 miles.

Yes thats sounds about right. I remember during all of the hype about Bahrain being ready, that any new F1 circuits being constructed must have at least a 1km main straight. Possibly to combat the future of the cars outgrowing the circuits?

I am far from an expert, but during the Speed Channel broadcast from Indianapolis, they said the front straight at Indy is the longest in F1.... they gave the length but it escapes me....
