Post

This is the speculation thread about the 2016 car. Rumors, articles, ideas and fantasies about the car can be posted here. Once the car gets officially launched, this thread will be closed and discussion continues in the official thread.

Team name still to be confirmed due Aston Martin sponsoring. Topic title will be updated later, if needed.

if they find some funding this car could win races
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

I was wondering that, too. And will other teams adopt that concept?

Guys, I'll let the current discussion about FI's ownership continue for now here. However, once the 2016 team threads have been established, I will be moving this discussion to there. Just a small heads up.

I moved posts about team colors, branding and ownership to the team thread: http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... 15&t=23715. A friendly reminder that even though the speculation threads are bit looser, discussion still has to be related to the car. Since we now have team threads, discussion about the team other then about the car, continues there.

They started with a year old car tho, Perez was fighting JB in Melbourn and was well behind the McHonda in Spain, they introduced the 2015 car mid season.

Also it's a bit dumb to compare just Round 2-3-4 and and Round 17-18-19 to analize a season.

That's more right.

Shift to new wind-tunnel has help them a lot in 2015. FI reviled sometime back that they are holding further wind-tunnel investment till 2017(due to bigger changes); will that hamper VJM09 performance?

The B-spec version improved substantially the downforce and mechanical grip of the car, they repeat what Williams did last year with the FW36 development, reducing severely the gap.

With a little more of resources... Force india (or Aston Martin) could be the great surprise of 2016.

AMUS reporting that the car will be even more Red Bull like this season.
Looks like the nostrils were a temporary solution and wont return
They will have an air outlet trough the front axle

Yes, the nostrils really looked like a compromise, a quick way to add air volume underneath the car without having to design completely new and expensive crash structures.

Basically everybody, even Ferrari and Mercedes will eventually try to move to the minimum dimensions of what both Williams and Red Bull have:

The thing is that it while it is a clear cut & low compromising solution (it does add a little bit of drag though), the extra performance it brings is not all that big. It is costly too; Williams had to compromise the chassis and Red Bull really had to push their engineering capability to make such a short and angled nose get through the crash tests.

However, they will eventually all converge to this point. If not this year, then in the following years.
