Suspension
Front - Manor Racing full composite. Pushrod to rockers with torsion springs and inboard damping
Rear - Williams Advanced Engineering
Complete rear end from Williams for the gearbox internals and case with the suspension as well. They are paying Williams £4m a year for this with £1m in trackside and embedded support, that gives them 7 Williams mechanics in the garage and 3 engineers looking at the data with another 5 back at Banbury for Factory Support on the data side and another 3 factory based support mechanics as well.
This is a great deal for Williams as it means they can get the traces for the manor guys and double their data gathering every year. Its also a great deal for Manor as Caterham in 2011-2014 were paying Red Bull Technology £8m for the same level of support. Williams have always been a good price as that's the same price that they had for HRT in 11 and 12 for season long support.
The front end is a Manor Racing Technology design, this years design is probably a bit of a MR04/MNR04B design with the MNR01 in there, its probably the nest they could do in the 8 months they have spent designing again. However this is still a good quality F1 spec design. It will give them loads of setup architecture options as from what I am led to believe they managed to make lots of suspension inroads in 2014 before they ceased to trade and came out of administration with their CVA. Max Chilton reported in every test they attended in 2014 they made massive inroads unlocking their potential. I think they managed to do so last year as well, but they didn't test as they knew it was only going to yield a 1% increase in lap time, and what's 0.04 of a second when the next car is almost a second ahead of you in lap time.
I think there is lots to be unlocked mechanically in this car and lots to be developed in a aero sense as I think there will be a thumb nose and new front wing at some point. I think this car has more potential than the Haas at the moment, its just an incredibly immature set up until they manage to get the Manor/Williams/Mercedes relationship integrated properly.
