Isn't already introduced in 2005?(the V engine cover ending)
I don't know what it is about Germany, but the tarmac they lay is perfectly smooth on the straights and very bumpy in the braking areas. So they need to do it the other way round! - David Coulthard, 2002.

If I hadn't forgotten, Williams had a VERY deep cut at the engine cover ending in 2006.

I don't understand one that if Mclaren had made all positive changes in MP4-20 and made MP4-21, then why wasn't it that quick??

Forget relaibility, the car was never competitive.

If anyone could help with this?
Racing cars are neither beautiful nor ugly, they are beautiful only when you win races.

The engine's reliability was very worrying at the start, then it had no problems. But the problem with the MP4-21 is probably accounted to lack of engine power, they were slow in the first half of the season, sometimes even Honda kick their sorry butts. 8)

Their engine was actually very strong and revved very high. Canada, Monza showed that. Montoya did say the whole rear end design was wrong! Pedro hinted at it, same as Kimi by declaring after few GP(4 or 5) that he can't fight for the title.

Indeed
Mercedes FO 108S V8 reved up to + 19.400 rpm in Malaysia 2006 and up to 18.300 rpm in Spain 2006 .

Of course Cosworth and BMW reved even higher .

To refresh your memory Mercedes was the second engine maker in 2006 to break the elusive 20,000rpm barrier ( Cosworth was the first)
