Help if possible

Post

Hey all,
I'm working on a project. And my topic is "Design of chassis of Heavy vehicles". Where in I would be needing some technical articles regarding new designs and the limitations of the current chassis. I would be glad if I get to know anything on this topic. :)

Best Regards

Well, I read something general about frames some weeks ago:

Framing the question

Now, I searched for truck frame design, ashamed of your unanswered post and I found:

Advanced High-Strength Steel Guidelines: cases of steel used in frames. I recommend, after a quick reading the "Automotive Steel Design Manual". Great pdf.

American Welding Society forum: example of members comments on truck frame cracks and welding. They might help you if you ask for it.

Light Truck Frame Joint Stiffness Study: by Altair. Detail of joints design.

Metalsa 'X-Frame' Truck Chassis: a case study of a chassis design for a mexican company.

I hope my research references sent by PM were of value. Ciro's recommendations are also extremely good. One thought, in addition to chassis a section on suspension would be a good addition, an analysis of
the strength of various I beam type members, a formula calculator geared to vehicle specs, remarks on wheel and tire construction would also be a further suggestion for added value grading of your paper.

That's an easy one to answer: because you're a Schumi fan. Google's search engine detects THAT and, then, only delivers pages written before 2005 to you...

If you want to get better grades, you should consider rooting for Alonso (or for Räikonnen, but I recommend Alonso: you will never be bored. Shocked yes, but bored, no). ;)

I'm an adherent FA fan. And I'm not at all disapoointed with his performance this year too. :)

Hail Fernando ! Hail Schumi!

Can you read spanish?

Last year I helped a Uni profesor with a research in collaboration with Madrid politechnic University, I think the paper has not been published yet, but I can give you some info anyway.

Its about the incidence of Aluminum foams located in strategic sectors inside steel frames of buses and trucks chassis. We compared 3 flexion bucling theories in rectangular section beams.
A couple of bus frames where crashed and turned over in Madrid and with that data a FEA model was designed and added Al foam properties according to a flexing "energy absortion" test performed.

If you are interested send me a PM with some mail adress.
