Not necessarily, the track surface is similar but different to Australia, and there are no high speed turns to cause graining. All the energy is put into the tires under breaking and accelerating. So perhaps with some alignment changes they can work the tires. It's going to be cooler than I anticipated, this puts a wrench in all weather predictions. It's some crazy weather going on in that part of the country, NY actually got some snow, in the dead of summer no less.FrukostScones wrote:top speed of that Manor should be good for overtakinggodlameroso wrote:I don't know why you fanboys are all pulling out the pitchforks, all your bickering is moot. serious side question, as it is going to be very cold on sunday (I read somehing between 12-20 C), have Haas and Renault shot themselves in the foot with their tyre choice?
Thanks turbo, that's precisely what I was getting but put much more concisely.turbof1 wrote:I think the point djos was wanting to make was that frukostscones elected Verstappen as a potential candidate for the win, but not Ricciardo. No disrespect meant versus Verstappen, but concerning what the driver can do Ricciardo has bested Verstappen at every stap in the 2 races they drove the same car. It would therefore not be logical to elect Verstappen but not Ricciardo.
Verstappen of course is still relative low on the learning curve and will make gains towards Ricciardo. So again no disrespect towards Verstappen. It will depend hugely on the car if the Red Bull drivers are up there. No driver can outpace his/her car.
Ricciardo came in from TR and beat Vettel over a whole season, sure Vettel had more than his fair share of mechanical issues but the point is Ricciardo is a 1st rate driver.GPR-A wrote:2 races they drove the same car? Spain agreed, but Monaco? Ric had the only one available, new configuration PU fitted on his car. Spain was the first outing in A BRAND NEW CAR and A BRAND NEW TEAM, without any previous experience of that car, still managed to keep an experience driver behind and won. Qualitative analysis still favors Verstappen, even if it is only these two races. Canada should definitely offer the first signs of their competitiveness.turbof1 wrote:No disrespect meant versus Verstappen, but concerning what the driver can do Ricciardo has bested Verstappen at every stap in the 2 races they drove the same car. At the end of the day, all they do is wishfull thinking..giantfan10 wrote:The more i read about the canadian GP on web sites and forums the more flabergasted i become...we now have claims of red bull surpassing Ferrari and challenging Mercedes in Canada based on the flimsiest nonsense i have ever heard... its like the closer grand prix weekend gets the dumber everyone becomes.
Based on what exactly? Where did the 1.7 second advantage Mercedes had and the 1 second advantage ferrari had go?...its suddenly gone because red bull won in Barcelona when both mercedes crashed and Ferrari with a faster car were stuck behind with no way past exactly the way it always is in barcelona?
Is it because they were competitive in monaco like we all knew they would be?
Is it because renault says their PU is improved by 5 tenths when they have never been right about improvements in the V6 era? What am i missing here?
Is it because horner and ricciardo claim they are the second best team?
How does 5 tenths wipe out 1.7 seconds and 1 second? What about the ferrari turbo upgrade they claim will bring 4 tenths....?
Somebody set me straight with some facts please.
There is too much hysteria around Verstappen. He is a very talented guy and he will win a championship if he is in the right place but people seem to be in a hurry to see him smashing all their competitors and winning everything. Come on guys, he is very young and he needs time. Its quite irritating to see people "over praising" or "over judging" everything he does. I had enough with all the famboyism around Alonso and later around Hamilton, seriously.BanMeToo wrote:GPRA is right about Monaco, but so is Andres - Ves crashed a lot, no matter what car he was in or what engine he had.
Then Perez should have won Canada '14 but his car was broken, or rather there was a strong possibility of keeping Ricciardo behind judging by actual events. Massa could have won too with better strategy. Full and not warped picture now? Ferrari didn't deserve to win Spain at all ('should have' is different).dans79 wrote:Because the two cars that were miles in front of him broke down, let's not forget that!djos wrote: You have a very warped view point, he's won in Canada, besides sucking isn't something Ricciardo has ever done.
