They still have some work to do though, when you consider they got a half priced pit stop and weren't able to do much with it!giantfan10 wrote: Ferrari have closed the gap .

The strategy was wrong.. and also they didn't get a half priced pit stop..dans79 wrote:They still have some work to do though, when you consider they got a half priced pit stop and weren't able to do much with it!giantfan10 wrote: Ferrari have closed the gap .
I know I was being ever so slightly tongue in cheek.George-Jung wrote:This was really unlucky, the rim got stuck behind the brake drums/ducts.. (how do you call them?)Restomaniac wrote:Another pit stop error by Red Bull. Again for Ric, whoever he owes money too he had better pay up.
Vettel gained about 5-6 seconds by stopping when he did under VSC.George-Jung wrote:The strategy was wrong.. and also they didn't get a half priced pit stop..dans79 wrote:They still have some work to do though, when you consider they got a half priced pit stop and weren't able to do much with it!giantfan10 wrote: Ferrari have closed the gap .
VSC ended when Vettel drove into the pits..
Some sort of way Ferrari always goes well in Canada.. 2015.. (I am a Ferrari fan) but I do not think that they have closed the gap.. But at least they are going towards the right direction.
Indeed. How double hard were those seagulls though.Edax wrote:Best thing since Montoya's "deer".Restomaniac wrote:The great seagull hunt of 2016![]()

I think this alongside Rosberg gives the game away.Shrieker wrote:Considering this is Montreal, Ferrari did well to pit Vettel under the VSC. They earned more than half a pit stop free right there, Vettel was only 11 seconds behind Hamilton after that stop. The probability of a SC here is high, so I think it was a good risk to take (the only being giving up track position). The point is, they weren't really quick enough to challenge the Merc. so nobody fooked anybody.
Could they have remained on the track and emulate the same strategy Merc. did with Hamilton ? I think not. When you look at the race, Vettel was pushing much harder with newer tyres, and they were barely making an impression on the gap with Hamilton. Vettel in fact was pushing so hard he overshot the final chicane I don't know how many times. Meanwhile, Lewis was driving much more comfortably.
Correct, and he rejoined in traffic.. which again costed him.NathanOlder wrote:

ROS got better start than Hamilton, if you loose confidence, you cannot do that. And running wide in the first corner of the first lap is not something very hard to do, I don't see how you can put it all on the confidence.Jolle wrote:It looked like VES destroyed ROS' tires in two laps time, very very nice driving!
Looks like HAM's got the (almost usual) upper hand on ROS again. Like he looses confidence whenever HAM is around.
Why does there always have to be some nonsensical analysis claiming mercedes had something on hand?Restomaniac wrote:I think this alongside Rosberg gives the game away.Shrieker wrote:Considering this is Montreal, Ferrari did well to pit Vettel under the VSC. Vettel struggled to catch Hamilton on fresh rubber, Rosberg pretty much ate Ricciardo and Vettel's team mate on fresh rubber.
I think Hamilton had more than enough on those tyres.
Exactly what my guess was as far as stops..... after Ferrari showed their hand by going to the SS instead of the softs in their first stop gauranteeing a second stop, Mercedes then knew their best shot at winning was a one stopper and it worked out. A 2 stopper would have had Hamilton finishing behind vettel.Steven wrote:Here's Vettel crashing into Hamilton's post-race Sky interview, funnily blaming seagulls for a turn1 lockup

Hamilton also noted his pre-race plan was to do a 2-stopper, but they changed to a single stop strategy.
This is absolutely brilliant! looks like they both enjoy having a good fight again!Steven wrote:Here's Vettel crashing into Hamilton's post-race Sky interview, funnily blaming seagulls for a turn1 lockup
