Suspension Geometry

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

I particularely recomend Tune to Win and we had a lecture this week from a British Hillclimb racer named Allan Staniforth, who wrote Race and Rally Car Source Book and Competition Car Suspension. Both of which I must make an effort to track down as he comes highy acclaimed.

All these books explain the working and stuff , i am looking for the actual designing of a proper suspension system . Correct me if I am wrong about the books ?

What do you mean by "actual workings"???

You had damn well better understand how the thing works before you try to design a suspension for your particular type of car / series/ track/ etc.

"tires, suspension and handling" by John Dixon is the definitive work on suspension design, but yes, you would want to know 'why' before you design a suspension system, and as usual, it's to make the most of the tire's contact patch.

besides, you wouldn't do anything but double wishbone anyway(read books to know why), so it's not like you'll be inventing something new.

To begin with, I think this is a very useful site: http://www.carbibles.com/suspension_bible.html

This information concerns all the basic layouts and working of suspension systems. After this basics are mastered, you can start going through the bibliography that has already been recomended, to know about roll centres, geometry angles and so on.
