Engine data for 1982 needed

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

First, welcome to the forum.

Second, you said it yourself, it's your project and Google is your best friend. No one can give you all the data wrapped up nor all the links you need. There were 18 teams in 1982, lots of different engines, lots of versions, some same but tuned individually so you got a big job in front of you.

Start with this http://www.f1db.com/exec/section/car/ac ... value/1982

This is the best database site but it wasn't accessible when I checked it just now http://glibs.ssmmdd.co.uk/

That's some great info. I forgot you had all the race car data. I have looked at other websites and nothing even comes close to this site. This site has all the info you ever need about F1. Keep up the great work.

The tables in the pics below come from the appendix of the Italian book “Dall’aerodinamica alla potenza in Formula 1” (from aerodynamics to power in F1) written by Enrico Benzing, where there’s a conspicuous amount of data about most if not all the engines used in F1 since 1950s and till 2004. Obviously the most recent data are mainly estimated values (indicated by a *) but for the year you are talking about the data are probably quite “official” and reliable.

I think you can figure out most of things even if you don’t read Italian, at least from the units used, anyway here a translation of the ones I believe to be less obvious, if you need a translation of other terms just ask.

Angolo cilindri = v angle (LINEA = in line)
Angolo manovelle = crank angle
Alesaggio = bore
Corsa = stroke
Material basamento = block material (Lega leggera = light alloy, ghisa = cast iron)
Cuscinetti di banco = crankshaft bearings
Albero a camme = camshaft, ACT = OHC
Cinghia dentata = belt, ingranaggi = gears, anteriore = on the front, posteriore = at the rear.
Richiamo valvole = valve closing system, molle cilindriche = coil springs.
Forzata = forced induction, Atmosferica = Normally aspirated
Accensione = ignition
Candela = spark plug

Hope you don’t mind you have to rotate and do a bit of cut and paste to read the images, but hey, I did most of work already, you have to do your part too ;-)
