We regularly see team personnel in there when we're getting our weekly groceries.
They are registered as a German team, they fly the German flag on the podium, they play the German national anthem when they win. What's this argument about again? Was Ferrari a British team when they had Ross Brawn winning championships for them? Is Haas a British team because they have facilities in the UK as well? Really now.

Which team does the supersoft tires favor more ? Ferrari/Merc ? I predict a Ferrari win here, because i expect Mercedes to struggle in the tight Monaco-Singapore like 2nd sector and Ferrari to shine there, the rest of the track will be even steven.

That even though Ferrari's total power output might be similar to mercedes (or by small chance even surpass it), the amount of time they can sustain that level is still nowhere near merc's capabilities, and it will show on this track, as it has numerous times already this season.
Do you have any data on this?
Yes. And if you've watched closely all the races this year (as in live timings and all that stuff, onboards..) you'd get a pretty clear picture.
Didn't Ferrari perform a couple of weeks ago a reliability fix for their Turbos ? perhaps their peak power did increase and can be sustained for longer periods.

In Canada Vettel with a seriously damaged car looked very competitive when he was chasing (long straight) the Force India.

Yes.
Care to show any? Like when the Ferrari runs out of oomph in the race compared to the Merc?

The difference between your examples and Mercedes is that the entire Mercedes operation is UK based except for the badge and the name. They're as much a British team as they are a German one. :D

You know the concept of "Multi National Company" right. Regardless of where a business establishment is operating, it would always be referred as "So and So County" company.
For Ex: Even if Google has operations in almost every country, it would still be "An American Company". Regardless of how autonomous the work a team is doing in "Google Singapore" OR "Google Australia" where the talent pool is completely local.
Another Ex: iPhones are completely manufactured in China (not designed), they remain "An American Product" belonging to an "An American Company". Even if tomorrow Apple outsources it's design activities to China, because SUDDENLY they found huge stream of talent, it would still be "An American Company" and "An American Product:.
Same with Mercedes. "A German Company" operating in UK and producing "German Product" with local talent pool.

So it's nothing German about it? Only the nametag is?

What I'm trying to say is, is it engineered German wise and put together by Brits?
I was pretty sure that the PU was designed in Germany, while the rest was in the UK. But I could be wrong.
The engine is designed at the Merc HPP Powertrain facility in Brixworth, UK. Lead by Andy Cowell, a Brit.
So what they do in Stuttgart? oh wait, pay the bills, not bad.

So it's basically like Rolls Royce, but the other way around? Rolls Royce is British, but is owned by BMW. So it's hardly British.

Sorry for getting off topic. Might need to discuss this somewhere else.

It's a street course so I have my thoughts on Merc not able to tune in with their car.

The whole F1 is largely of British Heritage. British, German and Italian. Almost all teams are largely based in the UK.

How do you figure that? Canada was the first opportunity to see the new Ferrari ICE and it looked quite good.

Ferrari is still the faster car overall in race conditions, and Baku will be much different to last year. I still think Mercedes has a better shot at winning than Ferrari because the road is not bumpy like Monaco. That is the difference I believe, because the reason Ferrari was faster than Mercedes in 2015 Singapore, and was competitive in2016 is because that track is very bumpy. I hope Mercedes capitalizes on it's straight line advantage because Austria is not a track that Hamilton qualifies well on, those two final corners are tricky for him, which means that if Vettel takes pole in Austria, bar any reliability issues or race incidents he should take the win as well.
