Here comes the first car render of the competition:

A quick teaser image of PPR M-17a :)
Where is the button to turn on the light?
Unfortunately the light bulb is broken, so darkness will be the main theme for a while. I dont think that will be an issue though since my cooling concept is crap, the car will be glowing on the dark :)

This year I am bit time-crunched, so my car will be presented after the first race.

At the moment I only have a sketch of the car by my chief designer, who is 6 years old and does not use CAD (yet).

Anyway, I am pleased to show you the first picture of my 2017 car.

Its name is MP005A.

It looks like you have a very talented kid.

We already have over 8 teams that have signed up.
Some issues about my software have been reported. A major bug has been resolved in the latest release of the software from this morning. Others are not so clear yet. I hope to find solutions to them as well.

@LVDH, care to tell us the differences in processing for 2017? I have seen huge differences in everything: processing time, drag, lift and monitored surfaces.

Mainly we now use more accurate numerical schemes. I made some mesh adaptations for that, not sure if you will notice them. The longer run time is because of these more accurate schemes. Actually first we run 1000 iterations with first order accuracy before switching. After the first race I will see if I can reduce the total number of iterations. If you already see that your car converges rather quickly you can change the settings yourself in the configuration files.

My exhaust is conpletelly crazy, flow seems shaken, highly turbulent all around. I'll send you the report.

And now I got the spikes on the charts around t=1000

The first is possible, I will have a look.
The spikes in the residual and force plots are normal. At that point the numerical schemes change.

I converted the STEP I downloaded form the MVRC website into a SKP file (v8):

Hi, I have doubts about the pressure (?) resultants on the engine inlet and exhaust.

faceSource faceSource_exhaust_dx output:
weightedAreaAverage(exhaust_dx) for p = 241.23534

>>>Is "p" a pressure or a resultant? Te rulebook uses the words "integral of pressure" [Pa * m^2]

faceSource faceSource_engine_intake output:
weightedAreaAverage(engine_intake) for p = 10.499427

>>>Is "p" a pressure or a resultant? Te rulebook uses the words "integral of pressure" [Pa * m^2]

faceSource mSurf_cooling_mid_dx output:
areaNormalIntegrate(cooling_mid_dx) for U = (-1.4616098 0 0)

>>> OK: this is near to the reuqired flow, as expected (-1.50)

The rest of the results are not too far from the numbers of the old MVRC software (I have the suspect that this new scheme is much more realistic about flow separation).

I suggest to use as much RAM as possibile (for both hardware and virtual hardware): WFlow required about 8-12gb of RAM, MFlow 2017 is now using (the simulation is about half completed) 18-20gb of RAM.

Exhaust pressure is craaaazy here.

And the flow really more turbulent overall.

Just to let you know, there was a minor issue with this set of parts. An updated version will be available on the MVRC site shortly and it should include a SKP version.
