So you are saying if someone offer Mclaren for title sponsorship Mclaren will not accept it?
What spectrum you are talking about? Ferrari also selling cars. Mersedes too? It seems that you feel you have to defend whatever Mclaren did.
wow dude, you are a trip.

red bull isnt your normal title sponsor, since the owner of the drink company also owns the team, other than red bull, which cant even be compared by any logic, who else has a title sponsor these days? williams is the only team that people actually call by their sponsor sometimes (williams martini). the truth is exactly what ZB stated, title sponsors in the "old sense" arent very common these days. to answer your "question" (if thats what you call it) everything has a price.

so what are you harping on man? you act like a little kid
What an unintelligent comment

I'm sure not winning the championship every year didn't help. The market collapse didn't help either.

As for 2018, I don't see Mclaren drawing enough sponsorship money to make up for the Honda dollars. Will they downsize, or will they find money? They should be able to pull more money from finishing higher than 9th, but that pool is dwindling, too.
Yeah, isn’t the point that the owners have agreed to give Brown until a certain date (forget what that was but something like 2019/20) until which they will cover the shortfall but after which he is expected to do so via sponsorship?

That’s what I’m sure was already discussed in this thread (with sources).

The point is that I don't expect Mclaren to find the $$$.

I think it depends on how much it is. Some of the bandied about figures are achievable and others seem incredibly unlikely.

I've my own belief that if Zak can get 60-70% of the shortfall in via sponsors for 2019 then the owners will cover the rest again and give him another year for the rest but it's not based on anything other than my own gut feeling.

The reduced purse for placement in the championship at the end of the year won't help either, but all teams will be hit by that, not just Mclaren.

Right, albeit if they finish 4th, 3rd etc. in the championship, it may still be better than 8th or whatever last year.

But impossible to say if they can achieve the shortfall via sponsorships if we don’t know what the number is.

So you're worried about 2020? 2 years from now?

1+ second improvement with new engine

MARCA have also learned that with their new engine, simulations suggest that the car will be at least one second faster than last year and that figure could increase into 2018.

Somebody needs to keep there mouth shut. Giving the new engine loads of praise saying they will be 1 second faster already is no good to anyone. Not even had testing yet. No need to get all the McLaren fans worked up into a frenzy just to find out in Australia they are roughly in the same position as last year.

1 sec faster in first half of the season is almost a given.
because 1y ago Honda engine was pure crap - less so еnd of season.
Still, given rule&aero changes (shark fins...), comparing 2017vs2018 will be hard.
Best benchmark will be time deficit vs RedBull & Renault

That means they'll be at least 1 second adrift come qualifying.

Same newspaper is publishing the words from Horner that the reability of Renault on 2017 haven't been so bad since 2006

Not too optimistic yet about the swap

The choice has been made. The most critical challenge will be the 3 PU units allowed next year, I think this will be the focus for all, and so far even tho the Reno has shown not to be bullet proof, it has considerably better readability compared to Honda. So I expect a tough season for all except Merc powered cars

could you perhaps take atleast the little effort to write 'Renault' correctly and not 'reno'......
