Apparently Toyota got a new engine cover, new front wing, rear wheel shields, and suspension work for the Barcelona GP

I've seen the pictures during the Barcelona test but can't seem to tell any difference.......anyone got pictures to help me point it out? I'd really appreciate it.

Renault had a mass damper mounted vertically in the nose (2005-2006) which was movable ballast suspended between two springs. it smoothed their ride and made tyres more effective. it got banned. those teams that profited most from the ban developed an alternative system that looks like a suspension shock absorber but works pretty much like a mass damper. the vertical movement of the chassis is counteracted by a rotating mass inside of the front chassis. those systems are in use since last year but renault missed the boat by employing a spy who told them of the system. they had to pull back the intro to avoid being nailed by the PTB.

I thought the j-damper was another name for the 'famous' floor spring

FRONT WING BAHRAIN

Toyota tried 2 different front wing designs in Bahrain , one with a curvy second flap ( similar to Malaysia ) and another one with a flatter flap design . The Team finally chose the curvy one for Qualify and race .

Toyota insist on not using front wheel rim sheilds for the first 3 races . The carbon plate cover was used during cooler Winter testing .

Toyota rear rim sheild has 2 holes on the carbon plate cover ,
any idea for the role of these holes ?? I assume that they allow mechanics to reach the tyre valve to measure the tyre air pressure

those holes do look interesting, probably right on the tyre pressure, but might also be a backdoor to get rid of it somehow? or more venting? but its probably the easiest of them all with teh simplest use.....tyre pressure.......cept that those rims move as well, so might be hard to pinpoint the place to gauge the pressure.

it looks like they opened it up for more venting, and possibly to make sure the brake dusts dont get trap inside and end up causing complications.

Those two holes, my theory is for valve stem access. One hole for the stem, the opposite side just for balance. If the vanes are allowed, they would greatly assist air flow, and most likely, allow smaller brake intake ducts.
