I believe it's the speed trap at the end of the front straight, is it not? Wouldn't cutting the chicane allow you to carry a little more speed through 16 and down the front straight?

I doubt it is the speed of the lap when he skipped the chicane.

I'm just saying I was watching the timing screens and the speed updated when that lap occurred. Doesn't matter to me either way, just offering an observation.

Yeah, well observed. Cutting the chicane is obviously going to give you a speed advantage, not sure how anyone could miss that.

Seems that R.S.18 has nice potential.
On final day Renault will bring first aero upgrade so should be nice prepared for Australia

Hi guys,

Just popping in - can someone tell me what do we know about the difference between the compounds so far? Preferably with source.

(I.e. performance difference over a single lap on the resurfaced Barcelona track on the new cars. High fuel gap is a bonus as is deg difference.)

I'm sure the Mark Hughes' of the paddock have some info and possibly one or two of them have shared it somewhere where those of you following the test the closest (and reasonably keenly and attentively) had found it already.

Although Mark Hughes reckons the hypersoft-ultrasoft gap is right around the 0.4s mark by which Ricciardo beat Hamilton today... So dunno yet.

Why would there be a 1sec gap between Hyper and Ultra, and then only 2 tenths between all the rest ? Doesn't make much sense to me.
