Kevin Cameron considers the 'music' made by triples, & by the syncopated beat of staggered crank V's..

https://www.cycleworld.com/what-is-it-a ... o-our-ears

https://www.cycleworld.com/why-harley-d ... ay-they-do

& here's an example of several of 'em running hard, (with that Trident sounding quite like a current F1 mill).

Re the article about triples...yes, but I have to admit that singles feel better to me followed by some twins (2 pots a mile!)
here comes the heresy and hypocrisy (there is an argument here that harley owners should nt be allowed to vote  ): from time to time I still have to ride some harleys for tuning purposes (106cid and 135rwhp) and if they have plenty of compression and in tune they are a good sound, even though i hate to admit it (T-shirt says "If Harleys made aeroplanes, would you ride in 'em?"

Here's a flying example of an even-firing multiple of 3, engine ( 24 cyl) - scroll across to ~30 sec to hear it revving.

Ed Hilary on being 1st to top Mt Everest,
(& 1st to do a surface traverse across Antarctica,
in good Kiwi style - riding a Massey Ferguson farm
tractor - with a few extemporised mod's to hack the task).
