Force India VJM11

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Is the carbon fiber on the wing pylon there just to streamline it for aero purposes or does it have another purpose as well?
Probably both aero and reinforcement.

The suspension bellcrank is quite high up, between the suspension arms, not below them as with other manufacturer's gearboxes. The air to air intercooler is easy see; fills up most of the sidepod (nothing new).

The red parts on the cam cover: I take it they are temporary plugs used between spark plug changes. Nothing fancy going on under the cam cover-covers, it would seem. The wiring elegance of the Merc PU distinct over these past five seasons.

I think Guru and Prodromou still have an occasional cup of tea together. The new front wing design bears resemblance to the McLaren design, especially in the y250 area

The new front wing isn't working as well as team hoped so they are not racing it this weekend.

Force India tested some fences on Checo's car in P2, they used flow viz as well, but I haven't seen photos of it. This suggests they have some (separation?) issues in coke-bottle area. As they use the same (or similar) diffuser as final-spec in 2017 and they have rear-end issues, these fences are quite suggestive.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

I had a quick look on the sites and could find lots of pictures with both cars looking like they'd just been on an episode of "you can't do that on television" (80s Canadian kids will know). But I could not find a pic of the fences. I hope something comes up soon.
