More details about McLaren's technical leadership changes are becoming public as it has now become clear that Toro Rosso's highly valued technical director, James Key, is set to join McLaren in the same role.
This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
Was slower than his Medium try and SS try. I don't know what is going on and the Medium worked so well and the other tyres aren't working.
On normal conditions he should be between the first 5 considering the huge difference between the Medium and Supersoft. I have no idea what is going on with the tyre.
He was marginaly faster then SS i think

At the moment one Renault and one Hass is in front of us because we as Mclaren can't make the S and SS tyres work cause it's not really logical to do the same time as the Medium tyres.
1.5 seconds behind in 6th. That is very good. If the car is still faster in race pace, we are in the mix for serious points.
To everyone talking about tyre heating... they have so much to learn about this new setup, plus I think everyone else is also having issues with the SS, not just Mclaren, cut them some slack. They are doing extremely well!

Its not...still 10th time overall

I believe that the only difference from the first 3 teams and that literally makes us compete with the midfield when we should be light years away is the tyres that we can't make to work.
Well clearly Mclaren has some problems whit tyres its same time as Magnussen on harder tyre.....not bad in the end but Vandoorne time proves it not the car its Alonso.....again.

Race pace looks good, and if they can still make their tyres last with the new setup as they have been it should be interesting tommorow.
Tyre's have been the factor all this weekend, Pirelli screwed up a little to be honest.
All Vandoorne has proven is that he's giving more and more evidence that he shouldn't be in that car. He's a solid driver for a lower team that just wants the car to finish, and that's it.
