Force India VJM11

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Can someone help guide me because I have always had the impression that Force India and formerly Williams have strived for a low drag concept, thus decreasing the amount of peak downforce. However, yesterday both Force India qualifying top 10, why is that? Did they nail the setup or did othes just purely messed up?

The chances of 3 other midfield teams messing up is highly unlikely given the odds. Just the consequence of SFI finding the right balance, having a good driver lineup and sorting the rear downforce issue (although I doubt this track will show the pace for the downforce corrections).

Force India's suspension set-up means that they always had a car with high traction, It's why their front nose structure has that platypus shape(The bump) and so they are fast in twisty circuits and fast circuits.
Halo not as bad as we thought

Adding more pictures of the new front wing, hopefully it isn't just for display.

Is that a hole on the center of the main plane? Between S and F?

It is. It's the ballast compartment with the cover removed.

About time! They didn't fit it in the Canadian GP, so France it is.

The diagonal black pipe. Air cooling to the gearbox? It looks to connect to the circular hole beneath the main roll hoop inlet.
