Maybe that MGU-H had some new features, and they want to analyze the data before the issue happens again at the middle of a race... Being Gasly 16 with an old PU, was a smart decision to put a new updated PU but with the "old" MGU-H spec. Hope that in France they had the issue identified and solved for the next PU change

From what I read, here is what I think I understood. The main update is ICE for Canada.

P's unit is 6 races old and Honda replaced closer to the entire PU. ICE, TC, MGUH...

H's unit is only 1 race old, Honda only replaced H's ICE but left most of the other parts the same.

The unit that may be the cause of Saturday's issue is MGU-H. Keep in mind we don't know if it is broken as P reported loss of power towards end of FP3, as precaution and time restrain, Honda replaced the entire PU before Quali. They are going to investigate the entire unit to find what's going on. Sunday they fitted entire new unit in the back of the car for race.

Norris replacing Hartley could still happen:

Like I posted earlier, I believe the issue Mclaren had with the arrangement was Toro Rosso wanted the loan deal to involve the 2019 season as well. That likely put Mclaren off taking into consideration that there are still question marks over their own driver line up for next year.
If they can keep Stoffel and Fernando for next year, then it could happen. But I feel Lando should complete the F2 season and try and win, meanwhile Hartley is given more time. if he doesn't improve, then Lando for 2019.

Not sure how reliable Auto Bild is, but they reported that Marko said Honda's update was worth 3 tenths. They also state that the decision to team up with Honda has already been taken.

It was sort of odd how the Norris rumor flooded the internet. I wonder if this was a tactic to light a fire under Hartley's ass; applying a bit of pressure.

If I were Hartley... the pressure should already be on and if the management is not communicating the urgency for him to perform then that's a bad management on the team. For a rookie driver, shouldn't need to use media to apply pressure.
