I also noticed the smaller openings at the right sidepod in front and at the chimney (see two posts above). Has MP4/23 cooling for oil completely at the right hand and for water completely on the left hand? otherwise this asymmetry wont make much sense to me.

i don't know but last time i heard its easier to manage the cooling by having the oil and water radiator separated in two pods.

Hi guys,

Regarding camera placement, I'm pretty sure it was on Hamilton's car this last race. Actually, we got plenty of shots from there. It's located on the left hand side of the airbox. By the way, don't regulations stipulate that each car has to carry a minimum number of cameras? I get the feeling it was four of them, but I'm not sure.

Regards,

Miguel

PS: Does anybody else want a camera in the helmet? I find current cameras far too high for my liking, and you don't appreciate blind apex corners.
I am not amazed by F1 cars in Monaco. I want to see them driving in the A8 highway: Variable radius corners, negative banking, and extreme narrowings that Tilke has never dreamed off. Oh, yes, and "beautiful" weather tops it all.

This is a very interesting photo is there any more information regarding the origins of it? I was reading study earlier this week in RacecarEngineering that spoke of improving the aerodynamics on a simple Formula Ford racer and from just taping off 50% of the area of the sidepods (however in the direction perpendicular to the route tried here by Macca)they had significantly reduced drag.

Obviously this all depends on the cooling needs of the car and perhaps McLaren is looking into using this solution at some of the cooler rounds. If the can get away with it, it could be very advantageous.
