Brabham is not revealing the source of the engine, but the 5.4L displacement makes me think it's a Ford V8 as seen in the first-gen (06-08) GT. This engine is compact and has a very stout and proven bottom end. Just remove the supercharger, add higher compression pistons, tune for track use only (no noise/fuel-econ/emissions) and 700 hp sounds reasonable.

There is another thread somewhere where the unusual firing order of the Ford v8 was discussed. Wonder if this firing order is on the Brabham engine and if it explains the sound. I think the conclusion from that thread was that the unusual firing order was for "acoustic aesthetics" rather than gas flow.

Probably the 5.4 from the Mustang Cobra, it was NA but had all the trick work done to it.

Holy crap, looks amazing but SOUNDS insane! What a sound track, positively Pornographic! =D>
Then this clip probably has you running for clean underwear ;-)

Not kidding mate, sounds like a proper race car, not some rich blokes penis extension! =D>
Really, I got down voted for saying the BT62 sounds like a real race car (which it does), compared to a rich blokes penis extension (eg a Bugatti which sounds like a souped up Hoover!). Wow, just wow! #-o

My 2004 SVT Cobra has a 4.6 supercharged engine and is so far the last Mustang labeled "Cobra".
There are newer ones with a Cobra emblem on them but they are not named Cobras.

Here fixed that downvote for you ( not mine btw)

But I do disagree on the bugatti. Mind you I grew up in an era where a turbo was a magical thing which turned ordinary engines in firebreathing monsters. Preferably to be announced by putting TURBO in huge letters on the side of your car. I still love that high pitch whine. And you cannot really argue with 400 km/hr can you?

But I can certainly appreciate the raw moody gurgle of a proper V8 like the BT62.

Although it still comes short of the F1 medical car. Come to think of it, maybe the quintessential muscle car is a merc stationwagon.

Really that thing sound absurd, like it is running on the liquified souls of deceased environmentalists.

Thanks for that. 8)

TBH I love turbo's too, but my comments were directed at the Hyper-Hyper cars like the Bugatti's which might be fast in a straight line but the reality is they are over-powered, over-weight Limos for Billionaires.

There are plenty of real Super/Hyper cars with turbo's that still sound good and are properly race-able (eg Maclaren Senna, Ferrari x2).

Us rich blokes are very touchy about our penis extension. ;)

I love it, it is a sensible thing, to be used in the way nature intended. Not cruising the streets of Knightsbridge, London.

Lighter and more downforce than a Senna.

And that sound!

Lovely.

EVs suggest the souls of dead Clarkson clones make no noise? Poetic justice maybe.
