Ferrari's new turbo patent

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Heaven: Where the cooks are French, the police are British, the lovers are Greek, the mechanics are German, and it is all organized by the Swiss.

Hell: Where the cooks are British, the police are German, the lovers are Swiss, the mechanics are French, and it is all organized by the Greeks.

The most surprising thing is that this is even patentable.

I think I'll file for a patent on a petrol powered blender. (genset + electric blender)

Anything is patentable. It's just proving that someone who is reasonably knowledgeable in that field could not of come up with the idea to defend and enforce that patent is the tricky.

Could not.

It's all about the obviousness. However if a rival firm was to say want to use their own version then they would make an application to have the patent dismissed. You then having a non-skilled person making a judgement on whether it is obvious or not.

Then lawyers get involved, so it is sometimes easier/cheaper just to do a reciprocal swap of IP.

Which was exactly my point. The Ferrari seems very obvious to me.

Direct drive? That's obvious. My patent transfers the energy electrically. 8)

Clarkson's was funny too.
