Aston Martin Red Bull Racing TAG Heuer RB14

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Two different front wings, one for Monza perhaps.

Since when do they use this kind of break-cooling?

Looks like they are running long floor slots now. Away from the small angled louvers.

Their updated diffuser design is really stunning. Very organic or bat-like in its curvature

Reminiscent of their broken wing from the GP of France:

Ricciardo lost parts of the the upper elements of his FW on both sides during the race it seems:

Is this the first race with long, full length floor slots?

If your pics and Barcelona is anything to go by I don't think the 2019 front wing will be a big loss of downforce. There will be a lot more drag though, speeds will likely be 5-8km/h slower at the speed trap.

The wing is so shallow that there is no real benefit from the slots.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

This almost looks like, if they activate DRS they actually end up losing top speed.

With the +/- 3mm variance allowed across the "flat floor", I'm somehow disappointed that there isn't any strategic "waves" to get aero benefit. Like golf ball dimples or similar...

McLaren tried something like that several years ago. They bent the tea tray upwards by the tolerance and it was forbidden.
