Has there been many movements between teams this off season?
All i know off is in the PR side of things, with Ferrari poaching Silvia Hofner (Alonsos PR woman) from McLaren to become their new head of PR (I think Ferrari and Mclaren did a deal here) and Stefania Bocchi (Kimis PR woman) who is married to Maurizio Arrivabene leaving Ferrari with their Head of PR leaving as well. Its looking like McLaren have promoted Charlotte Sefton to Lead Driver PR for Carlos and have got a new Second Driver PR for Lando with them giving Helen Crossley a wider role in the social media team doing McLaren YouTube videos and such.

It seems McLaren are going to have a better and wider Social platform this year and Ferrari opting for a more opel, less hostile attitude for the press, do not be surprised if Vettel finally gets a Twitter/Instagram feed this year at some point.

Appert from that that's all i know.

so was kaltenborn, and doing the same cr*p job at it.

yet other teams manage to do so pretty well.
for example, Otmar Sfaznauer. Just to name one.
Even without Vijay Mallya around, the team did, and does great.
an example of capable people.

Sauber was in shatters thanks to Monisha. She got ditched, replaced, and look where they're now.
Williams is in absolute shambles. The ONLY moment they had it going well for a moment was when somebody capable
stirred around the pot a bit; Toto Wolff, whom had a huge own interest in the team. When he pulled his hands, it went downward fast.

again, clear example that Claire is uncapable for this job.
And by the way, i've been saying that for years, more than 2 years ago already.
Kaltenborn did a great job for multiple years, the team's finances shrunk year on year on year till they were a joke. The biggest reason Sauber have shot forwards massively is a HUGE injection of cash from Ferrari both themselves and through Alfa. Alfa are said to have upped their budget by around 50million last year and are doubling that this year and because Ferrari decided to back a, well, B/C team in such a way they also gave them many more parts on the car which frees up a lot of their budget away from R&D for those parts and instead getting top tier parts off Ferrari.

Sauber today financially and in terms of relationship with Ferrari is completely unrecognisable from the team Kaltenborn left.

I think Claire is doing a poor job and making bad decisions, not having a tire specialist till iirc, late into 2016, is insane considering their primary problem throughout 2014/15 was amongst the worst tire wear on the grid. But to bash Kaltenborn because after she left Peter Sauber basically sold the team to a company with massively more money and the money is helping them make a much better car is not something i would do.

Edit Thunder: reworded the End, please don't be offensive to others.
Given this week's shenanigans to get the car to Testing, it is clear that something is badly wrong. This would point at issues with planning, resources and suppliers but ultimately down to cash. So far Williams have been kept afloat by historic cash from F1. Pity.

Paddy Lowe

A. Theory.
He was very successful in McLaren and at Mercedes.

Is there a chance he realised Williams wont be in a shape financially for him to make a difference? To me the timing is strange, the season hasn't even started.

And he has signed for another team and is now on gardening leave by his own choice since Williams woukd not let him work this year and then go straight to another team and now he has delivered a car, it would be unfair to leave before it was ready.

Will we see him in Renault next year?
Or any other team.

So with Paddy Lowe and Pat Fry both being available do we think we could see them back in F1 again or is that journey now ended? If so, where could they go/has anyone seen rumours for either?

Williams have said they're happy with their technical chiefs, so I expect Fry to be announced around the summer break

Considering Lowe was responsible for the travesty Williams started the season with, I think he's gone for good. I Think Williams hired Fry to become their new technical director.

Depends really. If he had a free hand to design as he saw it, yes it was a fail. If he had so many constraints he had to stay within, then maybe he he has made a point. Working withing someone else's guidelines is difficult at the best of times if you disagree with their 'dogma', if you are also told by 'management' you have to this not that, well!
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

No matter what he inherited, the fact that the car had ilegal components is purely on him.

With a well organised team, yes. But it's also quite possible that an team like Williams there is some friction and "not listening to your manager but getting directions from other sources within the company". Is Patrick Head still making factory visits for instance?

The man has got seven world titles where he had a large part to play in, you just don't forget how to "do" F1.

According to racefans they seem to think Williams will target Pat Fry.

It seems like the best way to recover your career is to join the FIA, then wait to get poached back into a team.

I’m an FE noob. But do FE cars not get a spec chassis? Is FE not a spec series? What would a TD do?
