ΟΚ .....torro rosso only 0.050 sec slower from red bull?...no way to this to be correct ...

mercedes and red bull 0.400 and 0.700 sec slower ...and on barcelona sort track ...no way ..mercedes (hamilton ) and ferrari its together ...maybe we see max 0.2 sec gap here and there for one and other track by track ..reb bull its a bit behind ..may another 0.200 ...after big 3 ..i think mclaren and renault very close mclare bit faster but renault super driver line up...after haas toro rosso the one group very very close to renault ...alfa PI the other group ...

ferrari
mercedes
redbull
mclaren
renault
haas
toro
alfa
PI
williams

my vote

at least its 3 and maybe 4 teams from mid.with less of 1 sec from the top ... renault mclaren and haas and i am not sure for alfa and rosso ...

Best analysis of the pre season so far:

https://twitter.com/ChrisMedlandF1/stat ... 71392?s=19

The so called pundits otta take a leaf from the guy.
Top 3: Mid 5 and Last 2. Track and driver will have bigger effect than the car standing and pace at Barcelona. Race pace must be the metric not hypothethical fastest lap.

Hamilton matching the Vettel time and being a bit slower in speed trapes means that at least Mercedes is equal with Ferrari...ok maybe Mercedes could be a couple tenths behind an Hamilton performing a mega lap covers that 0.2 sec distance but...
Hamilton's advantage was on 3rd sector, where he was 2 tenths faster over Vettel, while being slower in both S1 and S2. Last year, after having clearly understood the lack of slow corner performance at Spa, they applied some fixes that enabled them to win on a circuit like Marina Bay and that performance carried over to Suzuka (particularly last chicane) and it was obvious in COTA (last corner) too.

Bottas seems to believe the current car is better than last year's car on slow corners.

"I really feel there are areas the car has made good steps forward, in slow-speed corners the car feels better than last year, but in other areas there is still work to do."
With Hamiltons advantage being in the last sector, with all slow speed corners and a short run to the start finish line doesn't that point even more to less power being used. As they were slower in the power areas of the track and faster where the power wasn't as critical.?

It’s impossible to tell just by sector times. Power is a big factor in first sector, but not the only one. There is a high speed corner in it and second sector also consists of quite a lot corners, most of them high speed.

You can get a good sector time by ignoring the time of adjoining sectors, so as you say , a stand alone sector time is no guide to form without taking account of the whole lap, and prior laps too really.

Lower speed modes, doesn't mean no speed mode. Even in lower power modes, the car can take a corner with it's possible highest cornering speed. For example, if the maximum speed that can be carried through a high speed corner is like 200-250 kph, the lower power modes are still capable of generating that much speed. In Barcelona, only corner 3 is over 250 kph.

2019 testing fastest lap vs 2018 pole lap

Hamilton probably gained like 1s on the straights, goes to show how much laptime there's still in reserve. Also this wasn't a very clean lap by vettel, left some tenths on the table.

I have to say the Haas has pulled the rabbit out of the bag on the last day. Trackside everyone has been complementing on how smooth and planted it looks. They did a 17.5 on C3 and proceeded to do 10 more laps. Forget the calculation, thats a low 16.0 on C5 tyres and low fuel easy.

Haas managed to fly under the radar for 7 days, but that was a real statement they made. Just like last year, they look like being the 4th best at the start.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Thank you for the videos, Juzh and CriXus!

Is there also any onboard footage of Hamilton's fastest lap?
