Fresh update: Kubica was on his way to improve his laptime on his final lap, but some aero pieces just fell off at the end of S2. That's not even funny anymore...
Perez mentioned the same though, and that it seems to affect many cars as the kerbs are fairly aggressive. In FP3 you could also see some marshalls picking up parts from the track, so this is not necessarily a problem only for Williams, or caused by a faulty production of the car.
Yeah it's probably a problem of design and remembers me somewhat of the 'good ol' Lotus with Colin Chapman who built the cars as such that they should more or less fall apart moments after the finish flag is waved, but stay together untill that very moment. In other words, build it strong enough but not so strong that you're using unneccesary reinforcements and thus time, money, resources and weight.
The margin offcourse is another story alltogether, so i'd say for this track atleast, the margin wasn't high enough for a variety of teams.

The question remains though, if we look at Williams' statements before; do they have enough spare parts? a front wing end plate won't be that big of a game breaker especially with their current state, so on the other hand, it probably won't make much difference.

It appears that previous rumours that Robert had his floor replaced were not true. Williams simply doesn't have a spare floor, so they had to tinker with what they have. Car still doesn't work as it should though, have different characteristics and is way behind of what George's car. Some say there's almost a full second difference in pace potential between those supposedly same cars and it puzzles everyone. Reasons are still unknown.

okay, I was wondering about that earlier today already, as it didn't make much sense to run with the old, damaged (repaired) floor on Friday (which Kubica more or less confirmed to be the case) and change it on Saturday then.

They seem to habe found something though, today Kubica and Russel were basically on the same level, pace wise

edit: just checked, sounds like it was not Kubica getting better but Russell's car getting worse

I'm affraid they're not really in the position to make what needs to be done and are improvising. I had same thoughts as You, but on the other hand if current floor is unreliable and can't be set properly then bad but predictable could be a safer bet. From what Robert said, they tried some workarounds to the problem but not very much can be done by setup or drive technique.
Yeah, they were close, but they shouldn't. Russel admitted he couldn't find a window and get over the top of the car today. Kubica on the other hand probably opted for little less driveable but faster setup and somehow managed to keep that crap on track. With differences in those cars, Russel should be way ahead.

Williams now added a job offer for a "VEHICLE DYNAMICS ENGINEER - TYRE MODELLING". It is not only in aero that they have problems it seems...

Or their existing tyre person has left to go to new pastures and they looking to replace as natural progression.

of course not. You are not 1.5 sec off pace by only having a bad aero car. It's always a combination of factors. To recover 1.5 seconds in Aero you need a massive upgrade

Robert had a great pace during the first half of the race, being ahead of Russel by an small margin, he looked much better than in Australia but suddely he lost like 4-5 seconds in the last part of the second stint Then, as Russel pitted earlier the gap was bigger but in the last stint he lost around 18-20 seconds. Does anybody know the reason? it was pretty underwhelming as his peformance had been quite decent until that moment.

Robert's car can be somewhat handled only when the tires are at their best. They degrade quickly and as car becomes barely driveable, they degrade even further.
Today RK and GR had a chance to drive the same car. I'm actually positively surprised that GR has been only 0.4s slower than Robert.
It's a pity the weather limited the running time for both of them, as that was the chance to figure out what the hell is going on with that car.

Interesting. Have they found the reason behind this prolbem? taking into account Robert´s first half in Bahrein I am sure he can perform very well.

One for the optimists, Williams have a better finishing record than Renault at this point of the season......
