If the Mercedes is experiencing tire shake off the line that would imply the diff is fully locked, which couldnt easily be done with a clutch diff that allows torque transfer in corners. If its electronic and can vary lock side to side, giving the impression of rear wheel steering as everyone thought the car had, could it be a magnetic locker? Magnets can react faster than gear sets simply because they have zero backlash and can be made to clamp or release infinitely within the range of motion the parts have. That would be a pretty instant transfer.

My Word Sir! That’s a read and re-readable comment and something I admit to having done...
As admirable as it is though, wouldn’t mag-locks sort of be a rehash of McLaren’s banned brake steer?

I wonder?.. Blimey,.. I’m pondering now!

Hope they aren't compromising elsewhere in the lap to get that top speed. RB down by 1 sec is depressing. More depressing is Ricciardo being only 2 tenths behind. Wonder how the Renault is doing speed wise.

Max lap matched Ferrari in the first two sectors then backed down on the last

Max's first and second sector times were highly competitive. He was down less than a tenth to Leclerc by the hairpin then bailed out the lap at the chicane due to traffic. And it is possible Max's pace is being hidden. Honda looking strong on the straights and Horner is outwardly confident of the car in race trim

Silver lining, start on hards. Mediums won't last as long and softs take too much nursing. Well it seems either non soft tire can easily go half distance. Safety car probability is high, maybe good way to gain track position.

The race promises to be very interesting. Position three was possible, but it happened, as it happened. The main question - What tires to choose at the start. Max was very unhappy with the grip soft tyres. Maybe if it is hot, the tires will work better than today.

Tomorrow even warmer, there is likely to be a safety car so maybe a hard tire that can last all race would be good to gain track position.

Wasn't he on the mediums when complaining on the radio about lack of grip and sliding?

I hope they don't suffer from this during race running speeds, I'd go with hard > medium.

Gasly had 3 new tyre runs in Q3 and only just beat his Q2 time.

Q2
1:11.196

Q3
1:12.185
1:11.569
1:11.079

I wonder if they're seriously looking at replacing him? This is simply not good enough, he should have been in front of Ric and Lec. Gasly has to go.
